the 1990 design lends itself really well to this set

Is the "Getty Images" thing a joke or is it an actual thing?

I purchased a Coco card. Love the personal story and appreciate him not selling out to the same 30 names we are seeing day after day

i think its not a good thing when cards seemingly need backstories
"(card here) sucks!" "well, did you read about its backstory? that makes it a "must buy" for me" meh

That appears to be the case. Invasion by the younger players chipping away the Trout aura. |

Normally I agree but that Crisp card looks cool to me. Much better than the other two it dropped with. And I appreciate Never doing two players so far that clearly were not on the "most collectible players" list that Topps gave to these artists.

thats fair. of course nobody has to justify what they choose to (or not to buy). i was speaking in general. i was excited for the Crisp, but it came out too symmetric for me. i get that his Fro WAS near perfect, but it was a swing and a miss for me because the source wasnt

I don’t think that’s his point. I think he’s saying that all the artists use digital tools, whether or not the card “looks” more physical or digital. |

Besides, I don't think the Trout NEEDS the backstory. In fact, I can't wrap my head around why someone who likes the Acuna wouldn't like this. It's different but still has the same vibe and he's clearly making a themed set here. Maybe I just can't relate because I was familiar with his art before P70? As for other cards that "need" a backstory (Don C Sanders, Skee's set)---obviously, the inspiration of these cards makes them mean more to certain people than others. There's nothing wrong with that. That also isn't going to convince someone who doesn't like it to like it--and that's fine too. |

![]() Excellent choice! That windup and imminent leg kick was a sight to behold.... not that I’m old enough to have witnessed it in real time. |

I'm kind of regretting not picking up that Acuna Pardee card. I think I'll like how his set is starting to look, but was trying to buy sparingly after the amount of Project2020 cards I picked up that are still in the box.
