I don’t want to rain on the parade of Jazz doubters, but their schedule was front loaded and they STILL have the best record in basketball. If they come back to earth, I wouldn’t bank on it happening in the second half of the season unless Gobert or Mitchell get injured.

Don’t forget Conley was out several games already. The Jazz are so deep that unless they lose their engine (Mitchell) or their interior presence (Gobert), they will be a VERY serious contender.

Also, as those that actually follow the Jazz can attest to, Mitchell can be streaky, but he is more than capable of putting the team on his back in clutch scenarios. He usually switches gears in the second half and brings that killer instinct even if he started the game cold as ice. Yeah, yeah he didn’t pull it off against Philly, but that’s more the exception than the rule.

My big issue with the Jazz is the league make up, and that when the game slows down they don't have a guy who can defend the guys I listed above.

Their two options for guarding guys like LeBron, Kawhi, PG, Giannis, Simmons, Durant, etc are Royce O'neal and Joe Ingles.

Royce is 6'4". Ingles is Ingles. If they could change that by getting some sort of a stopper for these guys, I'd be much more bullish on them having a chance at a title.

If the Nets can’t win a championship with a starting 5 of Irving, Harden, KD, Griffin and Drummond then I don’t know what to say. That would just be kind of sad. They should at least get out of the east easily.

That’s fair. I think a wing stopper would be huge and they will probably get exposed some games by the players you mentioned. However, I would also pose the question of how many teams will be capable of outshooting the Jazz in a 7 game series?

The 3 point disparity is usually pretty glaring between Utah and their opponents and they have several guys that can light it up from beyond the arc which makes it virtually impossible to shut them all down simultaneously.

-Clippers
-Lakers
-Philly
-Nets
-Milwaukee (if they add a piece or two)

I don't think the Jazz fall back to the middle of the pack. Still a top tier team, I just don't think they can win it all, or be looked at as a clear favorite unless there is a big roster move or two.

I was just talking about shooting (more specifically three point shooting although I should have clarified). I’m not saying they’re unbeatable, but they are WAY better than they are given credit for because hardly anyone on here actually follows them or watches their games.

They are leading the league in point differential despite playing a very strong schedule thus far. Many games, Mitchell didn’t play much of the 4th because they were simply blowing out their opponent.

This point differential is usually a result of how they massacre teams at the three point line. That three point disparity is hard for teams to overcome, especially when the Jazz are also no slouch on the defensive end.

I've watched a good number of their games this year. I just don't think they hold as *as constructed* against the top 4 or so other teams in the league come playoff time.

I’ve got more faith in them than most, but you could very well be right. I would love to see them add a wing stopper as you pointed out as well. It would definitely make them a tougher out.

I’m obviously hoping for a strong showing in the playoffs, but there are multiple dragons for them to slay any way you slice it.
