minipokemart has them up for presale but it's a limit of 2 and not guaranteed.

Add in the grading aspect and I could easily see people willing to pay and expecting a nice profit after grading at 135-150 per etb
Hidden Fates had a shiny Charizard, but it also had a bunch of other high value SV cards - Eeveelutions, Mewtwo, Eevee/Charmander/Charmeleon in the non-GX part of the set. If Shining Fates matches the Shiny Star V checklist, it's going to have...Rillaboom? Ditto? Lapras? Galar legendaries that are already proven to not be super expensive in other premium versions?

It's a much weaker checklist BESIDES the one Charizard card, which itself will be the third similar looking card to come out in 18 months. And we have zero idea how much of this stuff will get printed. You might be able to flip the sealed ETBs for a bit of profit, depending on your outlet, but I wouldn't be banking on these ETBs having average EV of 135-150 net of grading fees. It's possible, but if the market gets a little soft on the whole...

i think you have a whole different buyer of pokemon now than you did when hidden fates could be found pretty regularly.............. the hype machine of champions path and vivid voltage will make this shining fates explode in my opinion

i agree the checklist with a ton of later generation pokemon/lesser first gen will make the product much softer for your educated person........... the people cleaning out 150 packs of darkness ablaze, entire vv displays, getting in fights about CP..... those are the people who will be doing this.... shining fates over the long term could be fools gold through and through due to the volume that will be made over many reprints/the massive volume of psa 10's we will see

i do think it will hit 150 on etbs though for a period of time, if hidden fates was released now i think 20 per pack all day long.... it's just so wild

Thanks placed my order and will hope for the best, not going to chase these at higher prices. Will just stick with singles if I have to. Kind of sucks because it’s a lot more fun to open them with my kids, not sure what they’ll think of buying singles off eBay or if they’ll even want to.

I'm not trying to be a Debby downer but the likelihood of them fulfilling your SF preorder is VERY LOW.

Although they're a legit retailer, their SF preorders were available since 9am PST.

Just to put things into perspective but most legit retailers sell out of their SF preorders within minutes of dropping them (with the exception of website issues due to increased site traffic, bots, etc).

If you didn't order around the time of drop, it's probably safe to assume you won't get them. Maybe not the case for all releases but most likely the case for SF.

With that said, I hope you get them. I placed a SF ETB order with them around 10-10:30am (slept-in) because there was a "Pay Later" option (so nothing to lose) but am pretty confident I missed the boat too.

I agree, I figured it was a long shot, but it still feels better to have tried something rather than nothing. I decided I wasn’t going to chase this issue out of the gates if I can’t get it near retail. Honestly they will probably still be printing more at this time next year. I’m super excited for this release, just not at $8 a pack.

Who actually buys presales at this prices?

Benefit of a presale was always to lock in a product at the standard release price, not the hype price.

ETB pushing $100? I don't need it that bad, I'll just wait for them to print more and buy it when the price drops. If it doesn't drop, I never needed it.

As I said earlier... these will be 150 when they go live. My initial guess was 135-150 when I heard about the product. Considering we are still months out and pre-orders are already pushing 100........ 200 plus may be the better guess of what an ETB sells for for the first few weeks on ebay

The eeveelutions and mewtwo were $20 cards last November. The 3 half arts you mentioned were $3 cards. Still was one of the hottest pokemon releases and best return rips ever. I think Shining Fates will have a strong long term value. Feels like Pokemon wants Scorbunny to be involved in their plans.

Scorbunny/Cinderace aren't in the Shiny Star V checklist.

I absolutely agree with you. It's always better to try something than nothing because you could always get lucky.

My two orders were cancelled. I elected to go the "Pay Later" route though.

There'll still be some opportunities here and there, just be on the active lookout. And you might even get lucky with one retailer. For instance, when the Shining Fates ETBs dropped on Game Nerdz, I meant to place one order of 2 but accidentally placed three orders of 2. Not sure if all preorders will be honored though.

Definitely reach out to your LCS too.

Alright, I'm done with my SF preorders. It's just a matter of the retailers coming through haha.

Hope ya'll were (or are) able to preorder too!

I think these sneaker flippers that brought this type of behavior are the same who caused the crash we're currently in with the poke market. It turns ppl off. I know a few people who haven't bothered with a good old target run in months. Even though most Targets have been fairly stocked lately, which brings me to the following point.
The reprints. While it probably isn't much to matter for Hidden Fates, compared to CP or VV, the PSA10 of sv49 is at its all time lowest at 850 a peice. Dropping daily. The pop report has been trending up on that shiny bastard.
I'm lucky I Flipped the two I had quickly for a small profit right before reprints were confirmed. Had a feeling it would cause a market dive.

I understand Eevee may be a very popular character but so is Charizard and Pikachu and CP ETBs and VV ETBs are also at their lowest market value since release.
And even in busy and flipper crowded socal I managed to find both in retail stores, at MSRP. Not right at release, But eventually.

Also most the Gary Vee and Co, who joined in this past summer (like myself) have been flipping the cards to get back into basketball and football. Then it will be soccer to.

Other than the Charizard, which I will just buy as a single. I really would not mess with modern pokemon, especially on pre order.

Poke man card print machine go brrrrr
And there's nothing that will stop it.

Didn't want to start a new thread really, and couldnt find one dedicated to Shining Legends so will post this here because for a good few minutes I thought i was looking at Shining Fates at Target. Grabbed four of these friday. Hit three Shining Legends (2 Arceus, 1 Rayquaza) out of the four boxes. Does anyone know if they were 1/per box? Or did I get pretty lucky?

Yeah, all this. TPC is not going to let the scalpers just soak up all the profits. If people will buy stuff off the shelves, they are going to keep printing. I'd rather be in Shining Fates and Hidden Fates long term than Champion's Path because the sets are just deeper in cool cards, but I wouldn't go buying tons of cases of Shining Fates at $950 expecting to make money.

I bought 3 ETBs just to be guaranteed to have a few to open at release. If I can get more at $60 or less from LGS, great - otherwise, screw it, I'll buy a few raw singles to grade for my PC and leave the rest alone.

Based off what I’ve ripped in the past I’d say you got lucky. Not sure about reprints though

I was able to order 3. The website was total crap yesterday though and it did take a few tries and then after my order, the website blocked me. Happened to a couple friends as well. I can't even access the site and I only tried to actually order once.
