yes indeed superfractors have a special appeal (to some, but in general moreso than any normal 1/1). That and this is 1984 design. Nostalgia is a huge driver right now for sales, and I'll say that even I have paid more for something because it was a favorite design of the past.

The probstein auction is a funny game people play sometimes for some reason. I might hit 10k but know this....it will NOT get paid for anything over $2200.
Don’t let probsteins shady auctions discourage you. They are a huge joke among the eBay community for many years now.

Yah Its just crazy to see a Lineupcard he didn't even use in his dugout sell for that much. Maybe it's the uniqueness of the card since they probably won't be doing lineup cards anymore.

His point is that it won't sell that high. People are shilling it and the true value is more around the $2Kish territory.

I would be ready to sue Probstein if I were the seller of the lineup card. Nowhere in his consignment does he list that it as a one of a kind, once in a lifetime only investment, and no other will ever exist to replace it. That sentence alone would have brought at least an extra 300% in bids.

Playing devils advocate here......What proof is there that the patch was touched or worn by Trout? Does it come with an MLB authentication hologram?

Can you post pictures of the front and back of your card to see how Topps is authenticating this patch?

Yep. Remember Zion’s first Panini auto that surfaced on eBay? It was a sticker auto /5 out of Contenders Draft Picks if I remember right, it “sold” for over $100,000.

Totally fine. Very much possible, but Topps would be screwing a lot of people over by using just a jersey you buy from the store. Even if it was a game issued jersey, still its a very unique card. I understand why the superfractors sell for more.

I just don't think there is anyway a lineup card will sell for more than my Letter Patch card. That's the only point i'm trying to make.

At this point I am fine with my card falling in the 1.8K-3K range.

Great thread.

Haven’t been on in awhile and this thread brought up memories of classics like the guy who went to game in Atlanta where he was upset he didn’t get a bobble head since he didn’t buy a bobble head ticket AND he was also mad at the Braves because it was hot at the game.

But this thread is certainly a 2020 Thread of the Year nominee.

Despite being from the Astros dugout and a game Trout went 0-4, it's still a cool card. Something I would have wanted but the owner of the card made me "unlike" the card. Out of principle with how the original owner of the card handled himself, I cannot bid on it. Someone else can have it. I'll throw a couple thousand $ bid on another Trout instead now.

Because of the guy selling it, I don’t even like looking at the card and couldn’t imagine spending money on it.

Thats a cool card but 1) its a booklet so not as desireable as a regular card 2) very streaky auto 3) looks like it has pretty bad condition issues as both the top left and top right corner look VERY bad and some surface issue on the front as well. Still a cool card though.

I wouldn’t get hung up on what any other card sells for. You don’t know what catches other people’s eyes.
