Did your zoology blogger tell you that?

It’s still a good clinical tool and stands as a risk factor for many diseases.

You can determine if someone is over their BMI in a healthy or unhealthy way by simply looking at them.

But if you don’t like that, use waist to hip ratio. However you cut it, obesity is bad.

Well, this an area I do agree with Trump on. Tariffs in general are bad, and I say this with a BS in Economics, which doesn't mean much anymore. However, China had tariffs on the US, as does a lot of the world, to protect their industry. So I agree with him here.

Post WWII is a long timeframe, and I'm not sure I know the answer?

No,I didn't expect a warm welcome. Just voicing my opinion, but "enter at your own risk" sounds about right. We all have opinions. When it comes to Trump,I just don't see one single reason to be okay with him. Look at where we are as a country. One hot mess...

We're going to disagree here.

I can accept Trump as an outsider. As a threat to the system. And I don't think he's an inhuman monster like most paint him to be. I think he has a soul and generally wants good things for the nation. But I haven't seen much over these four years to go beyond this and view him as heroic or motivated by noble ideologies.

But again, we're living in times were the algorithms dictate much of what we see—so I can't claim to have witnessed the "same" presidency that you have.

I'm back to agreeing with you.

Trump, Bernie, Yang, Gabbard, Rand Paul......basically every non-neocon/non-neolib gets ripped apart by the parties and their media machines.
I would argue that President Trump has done a lot to try and improve the condition of blue collar American workers that suffered the most under the globalists. After all, Trump gave an interview 20-30 years ago where he warned about moving our manufacturing to China. He's been aware of the issue for a long time.

There is no doubt that he wants to be viewed as a great President, but he could have taken the easy path and embraced the globalists after the election. He could have kept NAFTA in place and played nice with China, but that would have been bad for middle America so he didn't. Decoupling from China has been the right move for him and for most Americans.

It was just a blanket statement.

I’d rather just pay people for “good health”. Someone smarter than me can determine metrics to hit for the gubmint cheese.

I just suspect giving tax credits for good health would IMPROVE both at the micro and macro level.

Thx captain obvious. Is heart disease good or bad?
Many Americans seem deadset on downplaying the importance of a more plant-based diet, while the government continues to favor subsidies for the meat & dairy industry.

In which ways do you see globalism having had a negative effect on the livelihood/quality of living for many Americans? And how can some of this be reformed?

Money speaks. When someone sees how much their company pays out for their insurance or ultimately has to come to grips with how much they have to pay because they are on 4 different Type 2 diabetes meds and lifelong anti coagulation because of multiple DVTs, then they will see the value of prevention and maintenance. Otherwise it is not going to change.

Based on the poor content of your posts and where you get your information from, I thought I had to spell it out for you.

Now it’s the governments fault?

If people want to ignore reality, they can do it. Make they pay for their own insurance and carry the burden and at least they can make an informed decision.

Autonomy is a great thing. People can’t hide from the reality of their choices.

How do you believe our post-WWII Imperialist actions are greatly affecting Americans quality of life in 2020?[/QUOTE]

I actually had to look up the definition of Imperialism. I hope you don't hold that against me.

But since we're having a frank, honest conversation, I need to reply.

To define a 75 year swath of time with a word like "Imperialism" is difficult for me. I think things in 1945 were very different than 1965, and now in 2020.

In a way, I think we are talking about the same thing. I do not want the US policing the world. I also do not want the world sucking at the US teat. Nor expecting it to provide innovation. I guess I am a fatalist.

So yeah, the "Imperialist policies" (of course baring how we had to deal with several nations) have led to an increase in influence, and power, which I don't like. But am not surprised by.

I don't disagree, it's just tough to project out the actual costs when they're not hitting you in the face and by then it's generally too late.

Instead of a "Sin Tax" issue "Angel Credits".

-Don't smoke, here's $1000 a year
-Don't take up 2 plane seats on a flight, have $1000

Just basic stuff like that, offer financial incentive IN THE MOMENT not to do that behavior. In the end, we're all going to pay for it one way or another. Think of it as "preventative payments".

Also, nobody would ever go for this, so it's just a fun exercise. I have no doubt in my mind this would be cheaper than the alternative AND it would get a % of people in better health just for the money.

Wait a minute here.

Is this the same Donald Trump that had his own licensed brands manufactured in China?

The same Trump that spent years trying to develop in China and Taiwan?

The same Trump who led the Trump Organization in 2016 as they were trying to expand into Taiwan?

The same "Trump" that prides himself on Trump Tower that has over $200 million in debt to Bank of China? (A bank which happens to be owned by the Chinese government. )

The same Trump that attempted numerous trademarks in China only to be met with a brick wall until he got on board with the "One China" idea as president?

The same Trump who had his attorney peddle Ivanka's line of Chinese manufactured clothing while he was president?

Nationalistic rhetoric with stacks of globalist actions.

Do as I say, not as I do.

I like the idea, but in the end wellness incentives have shown to be minimally effective in long term behavior change.

But I’ll go for something that pays me to do what I normally do.

Did Trump run his businesses to maximize profit according to rules set up by the globalists? Absolutely. With the power of the Presidency, he is changing the rules to make it advantageous for companies to move to the USA or at least out of China.

Of course he did, and of course he still does.

Sure, he can feign ignorance when it comes to the business of the Trump Organization, but if there is one thing crystal clear...he simply cannot delegate and step away from anything.

Businesses owned/run by the Trump Organization have been importing Chinese made goods by the ton throughout his presidency to furnish his hotels, resorts, etc.

America First, am I right?

More leadership by example.

You dismissed the overview of tpeichels comparatively more insightful posts than your own, so I don't take it personally.
Yes leading questions. When you refuse to discuss points at hand, use leading questions to change the conversation.

I don’t think blaming someone else for your choice is insightful. Ultimately you make the decision. People try to influence positive health behavior all the time, through marketing and campaigns, but somehow neither you nor him acknowledge that fact.

Eating a predominately meat and dairy based diet lends to a higher amount of long chain saturated fatty acids which have a direct correlation with increasing risk for heart disease. I believe in your words, thanks for the ground breaking science lesson Mr. Wong.

Now back to the conversation, who decides what diet they eat? You, the government or the corporations via their marketing?

Many Americans seem deadset on downplaying the importance of a more plant-based diet, while the government continues to favor subsidies for the meat & dairy industry.

In which ways do you see globalism having had a negative effect on the livelihood/quality of living for many Americans? And how can some of this be reformed?

It's a difficult situation to reconcile.

You have a warm welcome from me. Please keep posting!
Thanks! Everything is just so unstable right now...

Food doesn't just jump into your mouth, individuals make the choice on what to ingest. However, just like everything else, marketing influences individual decision making. There is some marketing towards healthy living, but vastly more towards unhealthy options.

And has their been a worse government program than the food pyramid they pushed where they wanted Americans to have a diet with carbs as the largest segment?

BLM is simply a mob.

https://www.crimeandconsequences.blo...ief/#more-1769

So this is where we are. A hooded gang of mostly white thugs shows up at the private neighborhood residence of a black police chief, with equipment they refuse to unwrap, question little children, and terrify the neighbors. Let’s not fool ourselves. This is not a civil rights protest, and it’s not about George Floyd. It’s the mob — a bunch of Brownshirts — and if we tolerate it, we won’t be able to claim later on that we didn’t know what was coming.

What you ate growing up has a bigger impact on what you eat now compared to marketing. I’m going to disagree that there is vastly more marketing towards unhealthy options. The balance has shifted dramatically.

I would put socioeconomic factors at a higher impact and yield level for health choices. I think the meter is going in the rigt direction but we are looking at undoing a lot of factors.

I think the food pyramid shift illustrates that, I’m a huge proponent of the My Plate format. It’s simple, easy to understand and provides an awesome visual for people.

But yes, the food pyramid was a failure.

Literally what CNN Politics Twitter posted. It was pretty funny and it is what it is. You can't stop it. People seem to think we can stop a virus.

More fear mongering, Yahoo headline: "disturbing numbers, only 42% plan to take a vaccine." Oh, but for the flu it's okay? Ridiculous.

This is similar to all the whining about Trumps taxes. Why doesn't he pay more in tax? Well, the system is such that he legally does not have to. My favorite is when Warren Buffet starts complaining about how little he pays, but yet can send a check for whatever he thinks he should right to our government. They will certainly take it.

You want people to direct money elsewhere? Change the law. You want more businesses to furnish their offices in American made furniture? Tax imports and protect that American worker. That Trump (and any other business owner) plays the game by the rules made up by globalists that introduced this bad policy in the first place is not surprising at all to me.

In my opinion, the problem with the way COVID has been handled here is we have 50 states. If Trump takes charge... he gets destroyed. If he doesn't... he gets destroyed.

What we saw was... nothing different no matter what. Some states has mass lockdowns, some barely did anything. Results are everywhere.
