Gah, sorry! Meant his McGwire and Mays. (Was thinking of King Saladeen’s Griffey). But yeah, Efdot’s McGwire and Mays will probably be too hard for me to get at this point unless I’m willing to spend a lot. It’s why I’ve been debating whether to go for individual favs rather than try to get an artist like Efdot’s full set.

What I liked about Thieles' early cards was that the original player pictures held the foreground and then all the other stuff was more faded and subtle. The other photos were kind of like ghosts, with old ticket stubs and scorebook pages and stadium references.

His non-Topps art has a cool scavenger vibe to it and it seemed to me like Tyson Beck was making his cards with stuff a student has at their desk and Thiele was making his cards with stuff he found on the ground outside an old stadium.

I do like the 'welcome to Oakland' postcard imagery but everything is all on one layer and my eye can't process it all pleasurably.

I also think 'big Rickey' crowds out the original 'little Rickey' too much, similar to his Jeter card, and makes it seem more like a poster than a card.

Im at the point where I cant tell what/if any the PRs mean. The set HAS to regain momentum in order for any of it to matter.

I am convinced they need to take a 1 week break at 200 and then back load the second half of the set with 3 cards on Fridays or something. You cant trade, sell, enjoy cards you dont have and while I feel I can be patient, Topps is really losing a lot of people to their backlog. Unless they get it under control I feel PRs are just gonna get lower and lower.

Topps needs to take at least 2 weeks off all releases to get caught up, but I feel Topps has turned itself into one giant Ponzi scheme using today's sales to pay for 8 weeks ago costs to ship out.

Likely not much.
It’s the idea of light colors and his black sharpie mixing.

This is a fairly light card and one I think that will come out well regardless of how much he adds to the actual pink portion.

In addition to delays, you have price and quality issues. Topps should have considered fewer cards and/or fewer artists to lessen product fatigue. Instead they patted themselves on the back for coming up with the 20/20 concept, giving us a bloated 400 card checklist of overpriced 130 pt cards.

Newsflash: Topps doesn't care about the shipping delays, card issues, damaged/scratched cases, etc. Also, I'm sure they don't have a problem with their 'costs' these days...between the project, Topps Now and regular releases, they are printing money these days, imo....
