Khal you need to join. Tons of good deals available, (almost) no buyer remorse and at least with soccer, with the game being global, it helps closing the distance between collectors and saves them money.

Seems most soccer is waaay overpriced on COMC. Although, I got 3 Ronaldo euro prizms for $2 each a few weeks ago.

I think the pump and the shilling are two separate things. This particular auction has been shilled to an extreme but I think it would have beaten the $925 and $999 that sold just over a week ago. At that time raw they were around $300, raw silvers are now doing $500-$600 so I guess this would have gone for $1500-$2000 without shilling. I'd put the TC refractor about 10% higher. In that time though we've apparently had a 16/17 Foot go for $3500 (along with a sealed box for $825) so I don't have a clue where the limit is or which way is up.

Do I think that's sustainable, no idea. I honestly would not be surprised if a year from now they have gone back down to pre-lockdown levels of $400 a PSA 10 silver or gone up to $5k. It's obvious that people have piled on in an organised way and supply isn't enough to meet demand right now so we are getting extreme movement. The price action reminds me a lot of a short squeeze in a stock, Volkswagen in 2008 springs to mind. If there are enough genuine collectors then prices can be sustained to some sort of high level even after a blow-off top but if it's just flippers / investors buying and collectors cashing out then we have a problem. Then though you have the little matter of how Mbappe does on the pitch. I wouldn't be surprised if this speculation continues until we get some football played and /or some 19/20 hobby releases to take the attention away.

You really don’t understand how the market works do you? It’s not simply x player scored more goals than y player. People buy on prospective value. Value is constantly re-evaluated in light of other cards, hobby trends, and also fear of missing an affordable point to buy in on a player. This is why prices rise so dramatically so fast. Blink and you miss it. Performance is only one of a myriad of factors at play.

Actually 1 per pack (so 12 per box). Which gives you a 4% chance of landing Mbappe per box.

Did a box last week, hit a Messi RWB and no Mbappe. Not sure if these prices are sustainable though on base.
