Interesting right?

So there's a realistic chance that the Sparkle Foil will/should be worth more than a Black Update /67 I'm assuming because of the significance of the "698" on the back. When this does happen where does that leave the only Chrome and only Parallel of his first Topps (the Bat Down SP) "698"?

This was the last piece of the puzzle to the Sapphire for me. I think the Parallel to the 1st Flagship (698 Bat Down) will eventually trump the parallel to his 2nd Flagship (698 Bat Up). Was hoping to pick up a few of the Sparkles too but looks like the cat is out of the bag on them.

It'll be interesting how things play out but I have always had the Sapphire & Sparkle /190 as my top 2 Acuna 2018 RCs (SP/10 or less excluded)

It is quite funny. However speaking for myself I have never even looked at a factory set. I honestly thought grandparents were the only ones to buy these for their grandkids. Somehow this parallel flew under the radar for nearly 10 months.

The funny thing is this factory set seems relatively easy to get (or was easy to get until now)

The toughie is the all star set. It has completely dried up. I know it's been talked about a few pages back, but it's basically non existent now. People are saying print runs were anywhere from 5,000 or more sets, but I just don't see it based on graded numbers.

anyone have thoughts on this?

i think 10K is a safe guestimate. Remember, these WERE in Target last summer (albeit briefly), and i cant see Topps going through the cost of making new packaging unless they amp'd it up some

Agree with this. They were also available on Topps' website for a while. Still don't seem to be too many available for sale so maybe the number is a bit lower

But why such low numbers on the PSA report? Are people just sitting on unopened all star sets? You would think at current Acuna prices, people would be busting these open and grading them in droves.

i think FS698 is a "new" phenomenon, and we'll see more going forward (if they are "slab worthy" out of the sets that is)

Small time sample. Probably need to give this a lot more time. Maybe give it a full year from now and you'll get a better picture. Lots of cards stuck at PSA right now.

Both Target and Topps online sold out last December. If there are 10k, or even 5k, where are the sets? Why aren't the big wholesalers selling them? Who's sitting on them?

they are out there ... somewhere. if i had to guess, id guess 7K

like i mentioned, why bother to change up the packaging if youre not going to print "enough"

not that one Target matters, but mine had at least half a dozen at the time

could be true

I just checked ebay: only 2 all star sets have sold since the beginning of the year. (one in feb and one last week)

With the popularity of not only Acuna, but the others in the 2018 class, you would think a significantly higher amount would have sold in that time, especially if there is 5,000 ++ sets as people are estimating.

Just saying: I think it's more rare than people think.

in two months time, it would be a year since the release of the set...should be enough time for any backlog at PSA if this card is there sitting waiting for grading? would not make sense for people to be sitting on this set and not grading the card or you think they would actually sit on the set unopened when the 698 Acuna has seemingly become his go to non-auto card? or did a ton of grandpas and grandmas accidentally bought the ASG version and they are all sitting in closets across America lol?

I don't know what to think. To me, it seems the set is truly rare. There are absolutely NONE for sale on ebay right now. If they made 5 to 7 thousand sets, you would think at least 2-3 sets would be for sale. (even at inflated prices)

Or is everyone hoarding?

thanks. I put in "topps 2018 complete set all star edition" probably entered the wrong phrase.
