Would having not one but two Tom Brady 2000 Ultra Autographics stolen by a friend back in 2002 count? Not really, but it still hurts to not have that money. I find consolation in that I probably would have sold way too soon and that money would have been long gone by now on strippers and booze.

I bought a pair of game used and signed mike trout batting gloves from an Onyx product for $300 in early 2012, and sold them a few weeks later for $500.

2 boxes of unopened 86'-87' Fleer Basketball I sold for $15,000 in 2007
Made a ton on the deal but apparently they are worth significantly more now- no worries.

Are you talking about the Rizzo 2011 Update 1/1 that was on eBay very recently as a PSA 9 for $4999.99? (Doesn’t appear to have sold at that price, shockingly. )

Yea, 2 pretty lousy investors. At least I had the card for close to 3 years and barely made more from it then you.

I got one of those from a $10 repack box not too long after it was issued. I saw that it was worth about $40 going into the Super Bowl (his first one, against my Rams). Figuring the Rams were going to destroy the Pats and we'd never hear of him again , I listed it and it went for about $50, but the buyer didn't pay. I relisted it after his Super Bowl win, and got a little over $80, I think it was. That guy paid right away.

No that’s the diamond 1/1, I had the normal 1/1 platinum. Pretty sure I sold it to his brother. Last name Rizzo from Florida and believe I google searched at the time and confirmed it was him. I think I paid $50 for it and sold it for $120 so was happy at the time haha.

I use to sell a lot of Tom Brady rookies to one of his former coaches back in 2000 for good money at the time. I have a piece of a card that was sold for 18k a year later it was resold for 75k. That was crazy

Sold a Giannis Prizm auto for $80 like 2 years ago. Also sold a Giannis Fleet Retro PMG red for like $50.

In baseball, I sold a 2012 Harper Bowman Chrome Orange Auto BGS 9.5/10 for $4200 when he was having a down year in 2014. $4200 is nothing to sneeze at but probably could get double now.

Also, I sold a 2010 Bowman Chrome Blue Auto Gary Sanchez for $150 in late 2016.

I dont remember the total, but the case sucked.

I will not be checking this thread again because I want to throw up just typing this

I’m just going to ignore the Judge dimension here because at least his lone season to date was a record-setting one (in multiple respects, not all positive, but mostly positive).

But the fact anyone can legit complain about selling too low at $950 for a guy who has never even had a big league at bat yet says a whole heckuva lot about the current state of this endeavor (won’t call it a “hobby” in this context).

When the next big crash happens, as it inevitably will, the folks who want to write its history should start it off with quotes from this thread.

When the music stops, you’ll be glad to have paid for a seat, even if you can’t help but regret not getting a little better deal on that seat.

Not collectibles but stocks...

Sold three of my Otani's PSA 10's for $175 each...

Yall just helped me to decide what to do on the fourth one... Gonna keep just in case

I've had great luck with cherry picks... stocks, coins, cards, and other etc... to complain very much.

I wonder if Judge didn't have the year he had, would Torres cards still be the prices they are at now? I know the Yankees are a huge market, but Torres isn't going to his 50 HRs like Judge, right? lol.

Think I sold the red 8.5 to you and around the same time I also sold an orange 10/10 and the Bowman Sterling red 1/1. I sold them for around $2k total and I think at their peak I figured they were worth at least $40k! I also sold the Trout 2009 red Sterling 1/1 auto 3 years ago for $8500, that card I had planned on keeping forever but I was over baseball at the time, lol. Hate to think what it is worth now, maybe $30-$40k if not more.

Selling half a dozen SP Jeter rookies for $20 each. But I still have half a dozen of the Johnny Damon. So it worked out.

In recent memory.... had over 75 Bo Bichette BC autos at one point. Let's just say I only own a couple now. Made a solid profit, but I still think about it here n there lol.
