What do you guys think about the "85 and 86" star jordan cards? Are they considered alternative rookies? Or is it only the 84 #101 and the 86 fleer?

I would take all 84-86 Star Jordan as his rookie cards or XRC since the 86 Fleer is hot right now. Michael Jordan needs more rookie cards to meet the demand of his enormous fanbase. How many rookie cards does LeBron has? I think there are at least 10 or more iconic LeBron rookies out there, and what about Kobe then? In my opinion, it is a good thing for our MJ fans to have more choices collecting Jordan rookies, and the other good thing is we can have more affordable choices than 86 Fleer and 86 Fleer Stickers or 84 Star 101. Again, Michael Jordan is still undervalued comparing to some of today's young talents.

I’ve consistently said these are some of the most overlooked/undervalued cards in Basketball. These are all officially licensed NBA cards that predate the Fleer “rookie” card.

Love the Gatorade and the 117 card.

They're my favorite Stars as well (other than the 101). I was fortunate enough to pick both of these up earlier this year for around $1100 for both after the Last Dance hype died down a bit and everybody else was busy chasing Luka, Zion, and Ja etc. I felt very strongly these were undervalued back then and I'm glad I listened to my gut.

With how low the pop is on these cards and the fact that they came out a year or two before the Fleer rookie they should be selling for triple what they currently sell for. They are currently getting a nice price surge with the climbing prices of Jordan cards but they have the potential to absolutely explode. With the buyout of PSA if Nat Turner, who owns some of the Jordan Star cards, decides to have PSA grade them again their value would skyrocket overnight. I think these are a very good investment to get into while they are still somewhat affordable.

Yes, that's why I didn't grab a couple back in the day when the 85 Star 117 were quite bargain, but after I read several articles, I came up with a conclusion which the counterfeited cards are mostly in 84 Star 101 which the fake card makers could gain huge profit from it. For cards published from latter years, it's quite safe when buying graded ones.

Every Star thread has at least one person spreading more false information. Where did you get your information from?

star cards got in before bgs was trained and the fact that psa won't grade them threw me off. I also thought jordan autos with a 0008 cert were suspect but I could be wrong. I do believe the real 101s are grossly undervalued, I was just saying in my opinion what it has going against it. Not trying to start an argument or anything |

Shhh! The longer people continue to believe these "Rumors" about Star Jordan's, the longer the prices will remain affordable. I've got a lot more on my want list, and the 101 & 117 are already out of reach for me.
I say spread away with your false info! |

The ‘86 Fleer and ‘85 Nike are heavily counterfeited as well, so to disavow Star cards for that reason seems a little silly to me. As with anything, research will help you avoid counterfeits.

Agreed. There’s far more counterfeit Fleer rookies out there, than there are Star 101s. Not even close actually. Strange argument.
