Default COMC Spring Cleaning?

I have been out of the loop, so has anyone heard about a potential promo this year?

Radio silent in Redmond. Maybe once their phones are back online, they'll use the old dial-up modem (skreeeeeee-er-er-kaaaaah-bing-bing-kaaah "You've Got Mail") and post something on their Geocities page. Or something...

I know it's sarcasm... But their site is actually hosted by godaddy... I know because a couple years back some hackers took down godaddy and it affected the COMC website... COMC tried to deny they were using a less than professional host until the evidence was clear.

I don't remember this. Any chance you have a link to the evidence?

Haha, uh... No. I didn't take screen shots. I'm sure somebody can vouche though. Not sure what reason I'd have to lie.

I am now 1000% positive they are hosted through godaddy. Not saying I did this, but if you use godaddy.com's chat now feature and ask if they host it, they might tell you.

And yes, godaddy has been publicly hacked or DNS attacked consistently throughout the years.

Summer is still a couple months away, we should here something before July.

Shows how much they really care for the sellers...

If you dig a little deeper into that information it may explain the disappearance of Tim from COMC. If I am reading things correctly, he has been quite busy the last few years, and not COMC related...

I do believe 2 sales a year (Black Friday) and (Spring Cleaning) make sense.

That way, they are split up into almost equal parts and allow plenty of time between sales for the cards to sell otherwise.

And while that does cause extra work, as sellers (and as buyers) the 2x s year makes perfect sense.

MOO (My opinion only)

Rich

Maybe I'm reading too far into this, maybe he's always done it. But shouldnt you know how to effectively run your own business before creating a side business to help others with theirs!? Cmon Tim!

To be perfectly honest, Tim does know how to effectively run the business. The problem is the person/people he has chosen to run it while he actually makes real money do not have those same skills. The real question is how long will he wait before taking control again? I would imagine he is paid very well for his knowledge and abilities, far more than the $14 he was paying himself to run COMC.

Just out of curiosity, what does Tim do besides COMC?

Notice they are charging $0.01 to run the sale.. Why would they charge anything? SO if a small seller has no credit, they either have to deposit $10 or not run it...

It's better than nothing, which we seem to be getting closer and closer to as far as free sales go....

Oh no, a penny! The angst of having to deposit $10. Geesh. People should always have some cash on hand in COMC... all they have to do is sell one card to run the promo. List their 7 cent card for a penny and it will sell in minutes, I bet.

So why even charge the penny at all?

The only logical reason I can think of is to maybe limit the amount of sales run (even by a small amount) due to the mess that was black Friday when it went live (sales prices not showing for hours, some sellers needing to relaunch sales to get prices to show etc)

I think the problem is not in the volume of simultaneous sales, it is in their piss poor website reliability

I don't know why. I just don't think it's a significant barrier to entry.

It is a cash flow thing....they know that many people will be in the negative after storage fees get charged on 6/1....this is how they get sellers to get in the positive....sure raises some eyebrows about a few things

I couldn't think of one logical reason but I think you nailed it.
