Default The AL vs. NL Poll

Once and for all, BO Nation... which league is king? DH vs. no DH? Level of competition? PURE SUPERIORITY.

AL

Because Baseball is my 3rd favorite of the 4 major sports, as I never really played past little league, and I don't care about the strategy of pitchers hitting

That's the trump card for me.

If they have universal DH - its the beginning of the end of baseball as we know it. I hate the DH. A guy just sits there and goes up to bat 4 times a game? That's it?!

Saying the DH is better like saying checkers is better than chess.

Plus the NL fans do not have to worry about their team signing guys like Bautista and Victor Martinez to awful contracts.

Pretty sure NL is gonna win this. Most NL fans will vote NL & some AL fans will vote NL so really shouldn't be close.

Pitchers suck at hitting. I don't want to watch that. It's also tougher to pitch in the AL. NL pitching stats are inflated.

You would rather sign a position player/future DH for 10yrs/$20+ annually knowing he'll suck in his late 30's AND his contract will prevent the team from signing an ace or another bat?

This is what's going on now with Pujols and the Angels

Would I rather watch a 38 year old Miggy hit over Bartolo Colon? That's too easy. Next question.

Universal DH please. MLB is a multi-billion dollar entertainment industry and watching pitchers not named Bartolo Colon bat and run the bases isn't entertaining at all.

No offense, but your team already can't attract/afford free agents. No one would sign with Cleveland if there were 30 teams with the DH. You guys would want a salary cap next

AL = 64 wins
NL = 47

There's no better way to measure it, really.

No offense taken, the Indians are very cheap and I'd be fine with them being outbid on the next Nick Swisher.

That's a different and solvable issue though.

MLB should allow sign-and-trades like the NBA and then the FA market would be more equitable between rich and less rich teams.

I actually enjoy the strategy involved with the pitcher batting. Especially in close games, pitcher's been throwing well, but his spot comes up in the 6th with runners on. It also puts a premium on bullpen arms. It makes it a little more of a wildcard, and puts more pressure on the manager to make a decision.

Not to mention that I believe in the idea that if you play the field, you take your at bats. The whole concept of a DH just seems stupid to me. You just park your a$$ on the bench for the majority of the game, then go take a few swings and go back to sitting. Or maybe I'm just jealous cause it's the ultimate lazy fat guy job.

Maybe instead of home field advantage for the WS, the All-star game should determine the rules by which all of MLB operate for the following season!

I went with NL. I like the fact that in the NL any headhunting pitcher may have to go to bat after any headhunting expedition and may subject himself to retaliation. Kind of baseballs way of evening the playing field in this instance. Adds a level of suspense as well in this case.

I don't know. I've mainly watched NL ball my whole baseball life because of the Cubs.
And while pitchers hitting is usually lame, something about seeing a guy like Travis Wood hit a grand salami is pretty awesome!

Nah. We don't have bandwagon fans right now as we aren't getting to the World Series and winning. I would say most bandwagoners are on the KC side now.

The end of baseball as we know it was exactly what everyone said about the introduction of instant replay. That's a rule change I like. I don't like the Buster Posey rule!

I would much rather seeing a greater parity in the league by adding the DH to the NL. Pitchers can't hit worth a crap, so almost every time it is an instant out; mostly a strikeout. This inflates the pitchers stats in the NL which is why I try and draft NL pitchers in fantasy. Then when they do make contact, you have to hold your breath that they are not going to get injured and never be the same; see Chien-Ming Wang of the Yankees (2x 19 game winner injured running to 1st in interleague game and was crap after that). The teams can get smarter on their DH choose and do not have to be idiots and overpay for old guys like Miggy, A-Rod, or Pujols.

Add in the fact that with two outs and runners on second and third, your number 8 guy is guaranteed to get a free pass to load the bases up for a guy who they know will make the last out and get out of that jam and then you have just eliminated another useful guy in your lineup by having the pitcher bat.
