Default Indy's Comic Picks 2.17.16

Indy's Weekly Hot, Cool and Collected Comic Picks for this week!

Harley Quinn #25 Neal Adams Variant. - This will no doubt sell out. I've been told, but have not seen yet, the Chad Hardin Variant is wicked for this issue.
Sex Criminals #14 Katie Cook XXX Variant - FINALLY #14 is hitting, can't wait to see how Mrs. Cute and Adorable draws a Triple XXX cover.
Mighty Thor #4 Adam Hughes Variant - Another nice Hughes Variant. 1:50 ratio so you're going to see this one dry up really fast.

INDY PASS
Mighty Thor #4 - Even though it's an Adam Hughes, I don't like it enough (The title or the art) to spend that kind of cash on it. The buy in online is in the 40-60 dollar range. That's too high because I don't see any real resale value at that price, and Thor books are tough to resell as it is. Sure, a Hughes variant with a 1:50 ration will dry up fast, but it'll be a tough resell if you are thinking of flipping. If you can get for $15-$20 on sale day at your shop, it could be a fast raw flipper though and buying that cheap it makes sense, but not at $40-60.. Personally, I'm passing on this one.

INDY NOTE
I did NOT see Power Rangers #0 2nd Prints on the Midtown list, or on Graham Crackers. It's due out next week, so copies may be VERY hard to come by. This means this book, if you can find it, will have huge flip value. They had orders for 15k, but only printed 5k. Dealers are being allocated, will be a tough book to snag.

Keeping checking this thread throughout the week for additional picks, news and comic views........

So the Mighty Thor Hughes variant comes out this week. What are people's thoughts on this? I'm kind of "meh" on this one.

It's nice art, and I like Hughes, but it's already sold out at Midtown at $42 a pop,so if you can find it, and like it, grab it. It's not a favorite of mine so I'm going to pass on this one, liked his Captain Marvel much better .

Personally, I like the cover, as I think it's very dynamic and in character. However, I don't think it will be one of the more resell-able Hughes covers due to the lack of the sexiness factor.

If I can get it for a cheap price, I'll do it. But at $42, no way. Not on this one. Is this a 1:25 or 1:50 or do we know?

Just preordered the Harley Quinn #25 Neal Adams Variant from midtown. Its gonna sell out. Also got the Superman American Alien #3 Joelle variant for a filler and Deadpool 7 regular cover. They have a couple of free issues there too. I always add some to provide cushion in shipping

Real excited for a new Sex Criminals. Saga and Sex Criminals always feel like the longest wait for me because they're the two books I always look forward to most. Looking forward to see what Katie Cook does with it!

Superman American Alien #4 drops this week. Not only is it a SUPERB read, there's a pretty wicked Jae Lee variant available as well.

I believe so. Wasn't a huge fan of the artwork for issue #2, although I can't recall who it was. Story was great though.

Do you see any long term collectible value in Superman American Alien? The series is only doing some 28K print run, really low for a Superman but then again regular Superman title only doing only 38K

American Alien was Written by Max Landis, son of John Landis (Famous big time Hollywood writer/director of one of my favorite films "The Blues Brother"), and Max also written the movies American Ultra (which was awesome) and Victor Frankenstein, which I've yet to see.

I like his take on the traditional action movie trope in American Ultra, and he thinks outside the box, so if more people start to like his stuff, his earlier work like this will draw more people. I think it's a solid buy and hide away for a few years, but could prove to be fruitful down the road.

It's books like this that kind of fly under the radar because they are so different, but over time draw more people to it because it is rather good and fun, just different. It's on my BUY radar.
