Default *** Official Houston Astros 2016 Thread ***

Didn't see one for the new year if there is please merge....

Looks like the Astros signed a few players to avoid arbitration with them including Keuchel.

Looks like a one year deal for all

And Reed 3 for 5 with 1 RBI and White 2 for 5 with 2 RBI's(almost 3 but Reed was thrown out at home). Competition for 1st is heating up.

Also competition for 3rd is interesting. Duffy today is 2 for 4 with 2 homers/3 RBI's. Valbeuna went 1 for 4 today against the Jays picking up an RBI. Batting .429 in spring training so far.

I would love to see Reed up for Opening Day, but I think he'll be starting in Fresno to prove he's ready.

We're going to try to get the all the bobble heads this year, I'm really looking forward to the Rasmus celebration one.

By the way, how about that Matt Duffy?! Him and Reed are really making some noise this spring, but is it enough to overtake Valbeuna and Singleton?

The Correa Rookie of the Bobble head on Saturday, July 2, is going to be a big game for re-sale. I'm going to buy a few tickets, enjoy the game, keep a bobble head, and sell the others.

I'm more and more impressed by Reed each day, the way he battled Scherzer today was something to behold; he has a great eye

I know we've been spoiled by the success some of our prospects have once they reach the big leagues, but dang I can't wait to see Reed up by the end of April.

Alright baseball fans, who's winning the starting spots at 1B, 3B and the back end of our rotation?

1B: White on Opening Day, Reed before June 1
3B: Valbuena, although he may be trade bait if Duffy or Moran is hitting well
BoR: Fiers and Fister with Feldman as a long man out of the bull pen

I like most of this. I hope at some point we see Moran playing 3B on the big league club.....would be nice to have a solid on base guy in the lineup.

I don't know if you guys realize and I'm sure you do but Reed will not make the opening day roster due to team control It will be just like Bryant last year

Just want to add, it looks like Marwin Gonzalez is playing well so far. Obviously he won't start at SS but he has played 3rd and 1st. Any chance he steals 1 of those? Or does he just stay as a bench player? Going to be tough for Hinch to decide but it's nice to have all these options.

Who wins the closers role? Gregerson who wants to keep his job(no idea how's he's doing)? Or Giles who is struggling so far?

I think Marwins value is that super ulitilty guy off the bench he's good in small spurts but not as a everyday guy

I'm not sure where Marwin plays, but he will play quite a bit. He's hitting pretty well and playing good defense as usual. I wouldn't mind a closer by committee type of situation, although Giles hasn't impressed me so far this spring; his stuff seems really flat.

I'm probably going to at least 10 home games this year.

Well, Reed continues to blow everyone away and White is performing pretty dang well, but poor Singleton continues to look absolutely lost this spring.

It's a good thing Singleton got his 10mil a couple years ago, i don't think he's going to get another contract from the Astros. I've never seen the likes of a guy that just destroys minor league pitching at every level and can't hit a bull in the butt with a bass fiddle at the major league level like him.

Looking at his Spring training stats. Currently batting .095.
