Default Various box breaks 2012-2015

Ordered various boxes in the course of the black Friday sales. Took a while until they were shipped to Austria and were cleared by customs (they add 20% VAT on the original costs).

Was great fun to break them over the holidays. Results were ok for me, eventhough some boxes were really bad (will include some comments on the boxes below). I am looking forward to see your comments on the quality of the boxes as I am not opening boxes on a regular basis. Intend to keep the cards, but if there is anything you really want to have let me know by PM.

I will split it over various posts in order to keep it reader friendly (if there is any problem with the pics please let me know, it's the first time I upload pics to this forum).

Really liked these boxes. There were no big hits (not sure if the Larry Johnson 1/1 should be considered as a big hit), but you get a lot of jerseys and there were four patches. Signatures were not that good for my understanding.

Prizm
Think the Randle Auto is a nice hit, but overall I was not too happy as especially 2013-14 was not that great. There were some other Prizms but nothing special.

2014-15
Julius Randle, Gold Prizm, 7/10
Julius Randle, Prizm
Elfrid Payton, Prizm Die Cut, 46/139
Kevin Martin, Blue Prizm, 36/99
Mark Jackson, Blue Prizm, 25/99
LeBron James, Prizm

2013-14
Rudy Gobert
Al-Farouq Aminu
Tim Duncan, Prizm Die-Cut
Paul Pierce, Brilliance Die-Cut, 26/49

Intrigue
These two boxes were really fun to break. In my opinion they offer nice cards given the current price they are offered for. The Pippen on card is probably the best card of all boxes I broke. Also like the 2012-13 cards (two very nice patches), unfortunately they feature the wrong players. One pack also included the #16 Draft Pick redemption (not a good player at all).

2012-13
Vin Baker, Red White & Blue, 107/299
Charles Oakley, Immortalized Autographs, 116/299
Anderson Varejao, Top Flight Uniforms Prime, 3/10
Brian Roberts, Rookie Autograph Prime, 8/10

2013-14
Scottie Pippen, Immortalized Autographs, 18/35
Kevin Durant, Intriguing Players Gold, 2/10
Ray Allen, Intriguing Pairs, 59/199
Allen Crabbe, Impact Rookies, 125/149
Samuel Dalembert, First Hight Unis, 186/199

Looks like fun, hope Byron Scott shows up in your pulls. That Randle and LJ are nice.

No offense man, but how can you not be happy with Prizm? You killed it on 14-15 and 13-14 was decent (wait for Gobert to recover). Those Duncan and Pierce parallels are nice, and of course that LJ 1/1 is a good hit!

Congrats, hope you can pull more nice cards!

Wow this is a fun post. Thanks for sharing all your rips. On the boxes opened so far:

I think you did very well with the 13-14 TC - 3 gold cards in 3 boxes is pretty good. The LJ is awesome and an on card Lowry is good too. Too bad you had to get Felton twice though. The 14-15 TC was a bit miserable, but it's a tough product.

On Prizm, your 13-14 was pretty bleh but your 14-15 was very good.

Intrigue is one of my favorite products and I think you did well with both boxes. In 12-13, getting 2 patches in a box is rare and Baker and Oakley were memorable 90's players (although underpriced). The Pippen and Durant in 13-14 were awesome of course, but Crabbe has been playing pretty well this year - might be able to get a couple bucks for that.

Thanks for your comments so far.

To my defense I mentioned that I do not have much experience in box breaks yet...

@atomiclazer: not sure why you cannot see the LJ card. Anyone else with the same problem?

... continuing

Preferred
I am aware of the fact that you won't break even with a "normal" box but for a middle priced product the four cards I got in my Preferred box were really disappointing. No card that is numbered to less than 49 and I am not sure that if selling them would earn me more than 10 USD. Nevertheless, I like the Dirk vs Tim card.

2013-14
Dirk Nowitzki vs Tim Duncan, 44/199
Steven Adams, Panini's Choice Award, 4/99
Dana Barros, Red, 51/74
Rory Sparrow, Blue, 32/49

Innovation
Like breaking Innovation boxes. Was not that lucky with the autographed cards but overall quite solid for the current prices in my opinion. Not 100% sure about the Kwahi Stained Glass, as it is not numbered but is the purple version which seemes to be not that common.

2012-13
Ryan Anderson, Fine Print Autographs
Dorell Wright, Innovative Ink, 22/25
Victor Claver, 35/349
Kawny Leonard, Stained Glass Purple
Carmelo Anthony, Innovators
LeBron James, Authentic Jersey, 28/99

2013-14
Spencer Hawes, Top-Notch Autographs, 6/225
Steve Blake, Foundations Ink, 34/199
Greivis Vasquez, 24/199
Victor Oladipo, All Rookie
Ben McLemore, Stained Glass
Paul George, Memorable Memorabilia, 211/299

Court Kings 2x 2013-14 and 2x 2014-15
One of my favourite products at the moment (not considering boxes that are +200 USD). The Grant Hill numbered to 10 is quite nice and overall I would consider these boxes quite solid. A better Rookie auto would have been nice.

2013-14
Dwane Wade, Performance Art, 89/150
Solomon Hill, Art Nouveau, 229/325
Archie Goodwin, Art Nouveau, 244/325
Amar'e Stoudemire, Performance Art, 79/99
Kelly Olynyk, Fresh Paint, 18/499
Dirk Nowitzki, Portraits Blue Framed, 35/75
Chris Paul, Masterpieces, 71/175
Derrick Rose, Portraits, 145/149
John Wall, Box Topper
Tony Parker, Box Topper
Redemption Alexey Shved

2014-15
Grant Hill, Sovereign Signatures, 4/10
Kobe Bryant, Performance Art, 108/199
Xavier McDaniel, Sketches & Swatches, 31/149
Zach Lavine, Art Nouveau, 34/299
LeMarcus Aldridge, Aficionado Sapphire, 22/25
Kyrie Irving, Box Topper Panoramics
K.J. McDaniels, Box Topper Panoramics
Bruno Caboclo, Rookie Portraits Ruby, 82/99
Spencer Dinwiddie, Rookie Portraits, 36/149

I thought your Preferred was passable. Steven Adams is a decent player. The other two autos were ugh.

You did OK with Innovation. It's a cheapish rip and I believe you got two on-card autos. The 12-13 was stronger of course.

Court Kings you did below average on the 13-14 - Olynyk is OK but Shved is horrible. Hopefully they replace it with something else. The Grant Hill is great (albeit sticker) and the X-Man is pretty average for this product.

I think your Part I was definitely stronger. But thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks again for your thoughts. Really interesting to read a second opinion (and more experienced opinion).

Was also negatively surprised by the sticker. For a card numbered to 10 I thought it would be on card, especially as Court Kings has a lot of on card autos.

By the way, I think you will do well with the LJ. I suggest a High Reserve with BO if you decide to sell.
