I am sure this topic has been discussed a lot before I ever joined but still I wonder about the grading companies. I have never graded any of my old cards until recently and of the 20 I have had graded none has come back higher than a 6. These are pretty nice cards and I am a little shocked. Just wonder if the dealers who have hundreds graded get better grades so they can sell and then grade more. It is a standard business practice to give better deals to your biggest customers. Anyway I doubt I will grade anymore since the value of the grades is reduced by the lessor grades.

Cool story.
Are they old cards? A grade of 6 isn't so bad for some older cards. Also, my understanding is that you can pretty accurately determine what grade a card will get yourself. I haven't done it myself, but it is supposed to be easy if you have the right tools. Finally, I think you mean "lesser" grades. "Lessor" probably wasn't caught in spellcheck because it is correctly spelled. A "lessor" is someone who leases something. |

Unless they are vintage(like post above said) no way you are grading anything "nice". I've graded about 50 in the last month and I've gotten 48 nines are higher, one 8.5 Griffey Jr. upper deck and one card which for damaged in shipping came back an 8. My point is that getting a six is pretty rare And no the more you send doesn't mean better grade |
