Cool 2015 Topps Star Wars The Force Awakens Series 1

Hi all,

Didn't see a thread yet for this set.

http://www.blowoutcards.com/forums/b...ml#post9576771

2015 TOPPS STAR WARS THE FORCE AWAKENS SERIES 1 DELIVERS (2) "HITS" IN EVERY BOX INCLUDING: AUTOGRAPHS, DUAL & TRIPLE AUTOGRAPHS, SKETCH CARDS, MEDALLION CARDS, PRINTING PLATES AND MORE! EVERY BOX WILL ALSO DELIVER (24) INSERT CARDS AND (24) PARALLELS.

SET MAKE-UP
Autograph Cards
Base Autograph Cards (Approximately 100/signer)
Purple Autograph Parallels (#'d to 25)
Gold Autograph Parallels (#'d to 10)
Imperial Guard Red Autograph Parallels (1 of 1)
Dual Autograph Cards (3 combinations #'d to 3)
Triple Autograph Cards (2 combinations #'d to 3)

Sketch Cards (Approximately 3500)

Medallions - The Resitance and The First Order, 8 characters of each medallion
Bronze (399/subject)
Silver (250/subject)
Gold (99/subject)

Printing Plates
Base (650 total)
Autographed (4/subject)

Base Set (100)

Insert Sets
(18) Character Stickers
(9) Character Montages
(9) Aliens & Creatures
(9) The First Order
(9) Blueprints

Parallel Sets
Lightsaber Green (1 per pack)
Lightsaber Blue (1:2 packs)
Lightsaber Purple (1:4 packs)
Lightsaber Neon Starfield (1:6 packs)
Gold (#'d to 100)
Platinum (1 of 1)

If we make the assumption of (1) Medallion per box as 1 of the 2 hits, then we're looking at: (399 bronze +250 silver +99 gold)*(2 styles*8 characters/style)=11,968 boxes / 12 boxes/case = 997.33 cases.

I'm guessing there will be some retail for this, but no proof yet of that.

This is going to be at every Retail outlet from here to Timbuktu.

I also have to imagine the Hobby version will be printed in excess as well. People are going to want this no matter the odds.

Probably best to multiply that run by at least a 2x. The most important part in that sell sheet text: AND MORE!

The golds /100 = 10000 cards. How many of those would you expect to get in a case? 4? The numbers are frightening. I would expect nothing less than this being given away in happy meals, with boxes of cereal, with an oil change and as an incentive to sign up for Netflix, lol! (retail, not hobby) People blew it off when I mentioned the chrome medallions would have more parallels, so, go with what you want to believe.

I'd be down actually for a movie theater tie-in where you get a card w/ your ticket, but highly doubt that. That promo worked better for Pokemon and Yu-gi-oh.

Happy meals, again would be awesome and I see that as doable, coming with a toy. Or it'd be a pack of cards are one of the 8 toys.

What annoys me is the lack of relic support. Medallions and patches are neat, but lose value faster than McDonald's fries lose heat. How hard is it to get some Jedi robe fabric? Or some of the new movie characters outfits?

There's gotta be a bin full of x-wing pilot suits too. One of those should be able to produce like 100-300 relics at least.

That's the stuff they need to do, maybe in another Masterwork - get genuine props. My understanding is that the stuff that shows up from the original trilogy is cost prohibitive. Hopefully these new movies will provide much more along those lines of accessibility.

heck, i'd even prefer a "fake" relic like Adventure Time and Archer sets had. Just a Jedi Robe relic set would be awesome.

Surprised they get charged so much for simple fabric from the sets.

Nothing, because it's for reference only. I'm willing to bet it's either going to be Rey, Poe, and Finn or old Luke, Han, Leia. Maybe those will be the two sets of 3?

I guess this is going to be the "official" thread for this set? Anyway, Topps posted on Facebook this set will have Stormtrooper Armor Costume relics.

Decent, but I was hoping for a relic from a new character or at least one that is not a generic character.
I wonder what they mean by 10 pieces to collect?

We are 1 month away from the release of this product, High Tek and of course the movie!

My guess on the relic is that they'll be 10 different storm trooper poses, each with the same nondescript piece of white plastic.

I assume it will be like the Masterwork bunker relics, different character pics. I hope it's not 10 different storm trooper pics!

At least it's film used, which can mean even more film used stuff in the near future.

The bunker cards were all basically the same and all went fairly cheap outside of the Golds. I would think this would be the same type of idea. My fav relics so far have been jedi legacy. The relics from that particular product seems to have held strong over the years. But hey, new stuff is always great!

So with Journey to the Force Awakens you got about 6 or 7 sketch cards per case.
Does anyone else get the feeling they will be much harder to get in this product?
My guess is that you will only get about 4 per case.
This might actually be a really good thing, because if there are not a ton of FA sketch cards out there, they might fetch a really decent amount.

Well, it doesn't specify that it is, like the Ewok fur. So it could be from extra material. Now the bunker, sail barge, and Chewbacca fur were all screen-used (so I was told).

Nor does it actually say it's a "relic" or "swatch" or "piece" or anything like that.... think I'd like to see/hear exactly what it is before I'd be thinking it's actual Stormtrooper Costume pieces..

Topps confirmed it was screen used.

I decided to finally lock in my case of FA1 because the price was much lower than the online sites currently have it at.
I was going to get it after the release date, but even if the price drops, I couldn't have done better.
I got it from a high volume seller that I have got several other cases from, so I am confident I will get the case.
To top it off I got a deal from EBay to get 10% back in EBay Bucks!
I will not get it on the day of release, but that is alright with me, I will just have to go to my LCS to bust a box to tied me over a few days.

Well that is not going to happen sadly. Subway has the US rights to Disney "toys" for fast food chains. They already actually have these "toys" in stock. All Subway ever does for their Kids Meals is make cheap plastic purses. Occasionally they have small items inside of them. Previous promotions have included Trading cards, but the current Star Wars purses include a mini lightsaber that looks pretty terrible.

If McDonalds had the Disney rights still, it would be freaking huge. Star Wars characters plastered all over the windows, Value Meals named after Star Wars characters, Awesome Happy Meal toys, Scratch Off Contest, and my favorite fast food promotion, Character Glasses. (Glass, not Plastic)

Didn't Burger King do the Star Wars glasses?

Yes, they did a set of four glasses for each of the three original movie releases.
I know Burger King also did a pretty large release for Episode III, but I don't believe there was a set of glasses for that promotion.

I have no idea how to link a YouTube video, but here is an awesome commercial for the original 1977 set.

Well this is lovely. Just got an email from a major card website that is NOT Blowout saying that my pre-ordered case, that I pre-ordered multiple months ago will no longer be available due to allocation issues, and the best they can do is sell me 3 boxes. Ummm, so much for pre order guarantees.

Direct from their website.
"We also guarantee that all Pre-Orders will be fulfilled. Buy with confidence!"

I guess this is good and bad. First bad as they did not honor their business quote, but good maybe, just maybe, cause doing two sets at once, they arnt printing the crap out of this.

I know wishful thinking.

Maybe they should say "buy with some confidence, we will try. Cross your fingers."

There are a few people on EBay selling cases with a best offer, maybe you can get one for close to what you were going to pay.
I got one for $850 plus I got $85 in EBay Bucks to spend in January from a high volume seller that I have bought several cases from in the past, so even if prices drop after release, I felt that I couldn't do any better.
