Traded Price and Cespedes. Why wouldn't he be out?

With Beeston set to retire after this year, I think we can make room for him in Toronto.

I wouldn't rule out Duquette yet.

Say hello to your new self appointed GM Al Avila.

I wonder if this has anything to do with Alex?

Alex Avila’s days are numbered, no way he can stay there with his father being GM and tough that his dad is going to be the one to move him.

I am not. Also Kenny Williams still in the mix. Thinking about the front office makes my head explode, so I will leave it to someone else to figure out. Lots of interesting candidates nonetheless.

I disagree strongly with this. DD isn't perfect, but he's made more good deals than bad ones and is on a very short list of GMs about whom that can be said.

Wow, totally unexpected. I wonder if Al Avila will be the permanent GM or if a total house cleaning is coming in the off season.

Congrats OP to be the first one to post this beating 2 others (including Jaypers himself) by a mere minute! Not sure what your prize is going to be but well done!

why would he NOT trade those two?? the team is not good...they were 50 game rentals that got back some pretty nice returns....those are no-brainer deals if they were his decision or not...even if the team somehow got to a WC game....and luckily had price lined up....and even won that game...then they go into ALDS with like Simon, JV, Sanchez, Price...they are not winning anything with that staff coupled with the obviously awful bpen

The lack of prospects in their minor league system probably did him in. To be fair, they have traded a lot of them over the last couple of years to try to win one more for Illich. He can't be blamed for throwing money around, like the Miggy extension.

He just couldn't figure out the right formula. They were close in 2013 before Avisail Garcia allegedly slept with Prince Fielder's wife, ruining the atmosphere of the clubhouse and forcing Dombrowski to trade away two of their most talented players in Prince Fielder and Avisail Garcia. Miggy's hand injury that year was due to him stepping in during their fight, I've heard.

Of course, this is all hearsay.

The point is, as good a GM as Dombrowski was, he wasn't able to put together the right team of winners. Wish him luck wherever he goes.

He wanted to win the old man a title, he knows their run is over and he's jumping ship.

Why are his days numbered? Is there something that says he can't play for the Tigers now that his dad is the GM? If anything, it would seem the opposite now as I don't see his Dad releasing him.

Al said during his press conference that he has a talented young catcher and it's not his son. That's pretty telling of Alex's future with the team IMO.
