Default Knicks are frontrunners for two free agents

Knicks are frontrunners for two free agents -- Greg Monroe and Arron Afflalo, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Those are realistic targets.

Two guys who I am not the biggest fans of

Triangle is 100% of basketball so who needs defense anyway lol

NYC will pay any 2nd and 3rd tier FA with max money. That's what they do the best.

This news excites me. NOT!!!! I guess most fans are excited for signing players who give us a shot at being a bit better than last yr. Yippe…

Unless Knicks sign Wade, it's just going to be the same old, same old.

And if they do sign him then it's just going to be the "new old, new old."

Dude, we aren't gonna get Wade or Durant or one of those guys in the next year or two so we need to get some pieces, Aldridge would be great, Gasol, etc etc and Afflalo, Monroe, Mathews types are good add ons.

Affalo doenst move the needle at all. Monroe is good and should thrive in NY.

As a Pistons fan, I'm not sad to see Monroe leave. While he plays hard and is a professional, he lacks any defensive skills and is a terrible finisher in traffic around the rim. He'll get you 17 and 8 though. Could be perfect for the Knicks triangle. He just doesn't mesh well with Drummond since he can't hit a shot outside of 6 feet.

For once though, it won't hurt them. Monroe signed to the current max will be a pretty solid value next year after the cap jump.

Greg Monroe will be great in NY. Guy is an offensive weapon, hes just a liability on defense.

I really liked Monroe but once Andre flourished he became less important to the team. I do think Monroe is a really good player but he doesn't fit the Pistons any longer. He will most likely sign with NY and that would be a nice addition for them. He will be really good for that team I just wish we could have done some sort of trade last year and gotten a few pieces of draft picks instead of letting him walk for nothing.

Wasn't Monroe a FA last year too though?

My sources say there is a chance that the Knicks may get either of these players. My sources say there is also a chance they will not. Take it for what its worth.

I like Monroe but he will get way too much money this Summer. If he was that good Detroit woulda been better.

I can see Monroe on the Knicks, more so than Marc Gasol, who probably wants to play for a contender.
Deandre is from Texas so he will probably go Dallas or Lakers. Can't wait to see where LMA lands, then the big man FA dominos will fall.
