Default Super Quad Kerhshaw Five Star Booklet Topps Replacement Rant 3 years+ waiting

Hi everyone,
I am posting to say a bit of a rant about a topps replacement offer I have just been offered.

I want to see what others think and see what is a fair replacement.

I have been waiting a bit over 3 years for the following card.... ..

2012 Topps Five Star Baseball Quadagraph Book Auto

FSBQ-3
Justin Verlander
Jered Weaver
Felix Hernandez
Clayton Kershaw

From my understanding it should be limited to /5

as reference for everyone (note this is not my auction) I want to show you what it the base of the card would look like. 2012 Topps Five Star Quad Auto Booklet Trout Cespedes Montero Darvish 05 10 | eBay

TOPPS OFFER:

I have been offered a Julio Urias Bowman Chrome Refractor Auto as a replacement... They have said that the card is worth no more than $150usd. My card shop owner in Taiwan refused via Taiwan's distributor the offer from Topps right away and has asked for a lot stronger replacement.

To me, the offer seems way to off, what your guys opinion on what the original card if ever made would be worth? $300-500?

Should I just wait it out to receive the card which seems it will likely never be made or just keep fighting on getting a better replacement offer.

P.S: I know there is a super Kershaw collector on the board, your feedback and any others would be appreciated about this card.

Cheers everyone.

Not sure on a value, but no way in hell I would accept just a Urias refractor for it. Hold your ground

Thanks for the feedback. If they came back and said here is a similar price quad from five star or Kershaw, trout or harper auto then you would think about it. I am not asking for Ruth cut here

Guys any ideas on say Beckett or eBay value as they did reference Beckett of $150 for Urias...

I would say quad book is probably around $150 to 200 or so on a good day. But I wouldn't take Urias card for it. That's just insane.

It's not really about what that book is worth now, what was it worth in 2012?! Who give a you know what about current value. You've been waiting for three years!!!

Now, Jered Weaver is garbage, and Verlander's values are in the toilet. In 2012, these guys were 4 of the best pitchers in the game.

Rip off. Punch them in the nuts and take a Harper auto or Trout auto while they aren't looking.

Feel like I'm constantly reading about really crappy lowball offers by Topps on cards like this. $150 is too low...$500 probably too high but I think $300 is fair

The card isn't worth more than a couple hundred now. Multi-auto cards aren't ever worth as much as you think that they are, unless it's all legends. A triple auto of Brooks Robinson, Cal Ripken and Nick Markakis is worth less than a duo of Brooks and Cal. I bet a dual of Kershow and the King would be worth more than this quad.

However, as I stated, the current value should be irrelevant.

I hear ya but there's something to be said about this Five Star being a booklet and 4 on card autos. Much better than a multi auto card from TTT, for example, that has stickers

Great point. Tell them to make it a color Urias, I'd take a blue as a repalcement.

This is GREAT point. Why is Topps basing the value off of current "market" when the card was supposed to be produced and delivered 3 years ago?? I realize they can't get some of the redemptions out ASAP, but in case where it takes over a year, they should be obligated to give fair market value replacements based on release date. If I buy a redemption card for $250 on eBay and Topps can't fulfill the redemption after 2 years, I better damn well get a $250 replacement value.

The Ryu situation someone brought up in another thread is a travesty too. If the cards were delivered in a timely manner, they would have a much higher value given that he's looking at season-ending (and potentially career-altering) surgery!

What's it going to take for some kind of change to happen? These stories seem to pop up constantly and Topps continues to bully collectors into taking something they don't want in place of something they were promised. How many stories do we NOT hear? I'm assuming for every 1 that's posted on the boards, there's 10 more that aren't - and the collector probably was forced to take a crappy replacement...

I think the card would sell for $250-$300. Maybe a replacement in that range would be reasonable.

What's more ridiculous is that they're trying to replace a card that would cost them, maybe $100 to make ($25/sig for those guys???) with a card that cost them $5........what a joke.

Maybe this is they way Topps plans on recouping money from losing the NFL license?

I've been waiting several years on a redemption and it isn't the first time. What if the card drops in price in that window. Which can often be the case in young players. The card could go from hero to zero. We spend enormous dollars on opportunities to get the unique hits and those are the redemptions that take forever to redeem. I just got off the phone with topps and have decided to pass it on to my families law firm which has the resources to persue. If other's want to join this argument on a class action with no cost please respond to my email hubinternationalbg@gmail.com.

I'd say $250-$300... whatever you do when you call remember BE NICE! State your case calmly, and respectfully say you don't think its equal value and would like a different offer. They may even go higher up to ask a manager for a better value... again I know its hard to not be upset after 3 years but BE NICE and they will WANT to help you more.... Has always worked VERY WELL for me atleast... Last time THEY SENT ME A FREE CARD $250-$300 card ON TOP OF MY REPLACEMENTS we agreeded upon... I still have no clue why? lol. But I think being so nice had something to do with it.

I couldn't agree with this more...Topps customer service folks get yelled at all day long, so the nicer you are and the more you treat them like actual people (make sure to remember their name and use it during the conversation!), the more you stand out for the right reasons and the more they will work with you. Even if it doesn't work, at least you did the right thing and treated someone nicely...I think that how you act when there are no consequences says the most about a persons character.

Don't get me wrong, some of them truly are tools and you're out of luck if they pick up the phone when you call.

Definitely worth more than $150. I can tell you that much.

You won't get very far talking with them. Your best bet is to just wait. The only signature that's still needed on these is Weaver.

At the very least I would request a Blue Refractor Auto of Urias.

I find this surprising as I'm still waiting on a Felix auto from the same set. In fact Topps is pushing me towards taking a replacement.

Topps undervalues there best product like nobodies business!!! The way they are handling all these multi auto cards from Five Star is a joke! How many of these are not being made half of them!??!!?

I think we have enough to prove bait and switch on Topps part, there product failed and now they don't want to deliver!

Also I would pay 250-300 for that card all day...the 2 best pitchers of this ERA and 2 quality pitchers, 3 Cy Young winners! Screw Topps!

Everyone would agree that your card is worth more than this card or at the very least similar value!
