Default COMC versus eBay

I was thinking of sending in a bunch of $5-15 cards I didn't really want to spend the time listing on ebay. Is COMC really very good? I think my ebay auctions take too long to because I try to give too big of a description, maybe I need to just have the title, lol. Thanks in advance.

That' the perfect price range for COMC. Myself and others have really noticed an upswing in sales on COMC the last 5 months or so. People complain about the fees - but I'll pay those fees all day long to avoid the extra work and headaches of eBay.

For that range, I would go for COMC, especially if you are a collector which you can buy the card using the fund.

For higher value card, it is getting to the point that ebay sale is better. Like $100 card, COMC would charge $20.00 fee (assume your shipping cost to COMC was almost nothing). ebay $100 sale is $13.30 fee. So, for around $7 difference, does it worth your time to list/pack/ship a single card? For me, I think $100 mark is my break point.

Is the submission/storage charges a 1-time effort? Some cards seem to be on there for a long time and not very expensive.

Submission fee is once unless you buy a port and storage fees are for cards over .75 per month

I use COMC for cards that I would otherwise have sitting in a box in my closet until I finally blew them out as a lot on here. If you send cards of reasonably popular players from reasonably popular sets and are realistic with your prices and are flexible with offers, you'll do well. If your port is full of things like Darius Songaila autos and you are stingy with offers, you'll likely have things sit.

That's exactly what I've done- sent in a couple hundred cards in that range, and while there are a lot of them that may never sell, I've recovered a fair amount of money that otherwise would be dying in the closet. Plus, I've no doubt made some other collector happy, who really wanted a certain card and there is some value to that as well.

Ok cool, that's kinda what I am thinking of sending in. Don't feel like listing it all and it will only get so much traction on the bay. I think I might give it a shot and be very generous on offers, lol. Just looking to move stuff. So do people ship in one of those white cardboard boxes with rows in them? And just put in penny sleeves?

I send mine in penny sleeves in this type box:

300 Count Cardboard Storage Box - 50ct Bundle - $24.99 : Blowout Cards - Sports Cards and Trading Cards Wholesale Online Store

I just sent in 386 cards yesterday and it took 3 of these and a smaller 200 ct box. I put them in a larger cardboard box and stuffed packing peanuts around them so they wouldn't move. It ended up being like $25 for priority with signature confirmation for the package. It's my 5th sub and I've never had any issues with damage or shipping.

Thank you very much that is really helpful! Even if I sell some stuff for lower than market value, they aren't doing anything in my closet. Plus I wouldn't mind some blowout cash

No directly on there, one thing I wish they would fix. I get it to an extent, but its rough when trying to reach a fair price for something.

Ex. I want to offer half price for a card, which would be fair value and they would normally accept. But they only have offers of 70% because the rest of the cards that is generally fair value. I get stuck overpaying or they get stuck more than likely sitting on the card. It would be nice to even just communicate a mini message in an offer if only that.

What if they (COMC) allowed you to list your Blowout username in your COMC profile...that way, you could be contacted by a potential buyer here, but have the ability to block those who get abusive/those you don't want to hear from?

Granted, it would circumvent their "offer process" somewhat but it could also generate more sales, by letting people actually negotiate with sellers in greater details, doing more than just sending amounts back and forth.

Always willing to entertain COMC offers from BO members...just PM me the details and let's talk.

Either or would work for me, just some way to communicate. It may bypass their offer process, but it will more than likely still be done on their site because I wouldn't see many people shipping back waiting however long then shipping it out again, so the transaction would still be done on COMC in most cases. Like you said, then a block feature would almost have to be implemented, but that would be fine by me. I think it would boost overall sales on the site being able to work with someone a little bit more.

For me, that is the single biggest issue with COMC. I know that buyers would like to ask questions, or make offers but with no way to contact, it is difficult to keep track of actual market rates. I feel like at some point they will have to dress it somehow.

Also, I tried to make an offer but it wouldn't let me. What the hell? It says I need to have money in the account? I'm not going to transfer money to that account if the guy may potentially turn it down. Am I missing something???

You do if you want to offer, but if he rejects it you can just request a refund for your deposit within 30 days. So put money in, make an offer. Either gets accepted and save money/have some for other cards. Or get rejected and request a refund to get all your money back.

No you can't, its one thing I wish they would add to allow for at least some communication/reasoning between offers and counter-offers.

Go to MyDashboard and on the left hit Request a Refund, then hit it again.
