Must have been Eric Stephenson's choice. Every time I have seen that guy speak at a Con I do a facepalm. After the Peter Panzerfaust Rob Guillory Incentive Variant I told him it was a great idea and we would like to see more of those offered. His response was that they didn't matter to sales and the comic's content was far more important to them. He then a month or two later reprints Nowhere Men #1 with four different colors after #5 was already out to sell them at inflated prices and create a buzz. Image needs to promote its new storylines much better, but they are just relying on people to sell new #1's on ebay at high markups for people to get into a new series, and by then second and third prints take too long for retailers to catch their customers up on. Image came out with such a bang back in the early 90's, and still has some amazing series that are falling very flat. Eric Stephenson is not running that company well and runs it the way he wants to, not the way the comic fanbase wants it.

It really feels like to me that Image does a really poor job creating an environment for fans to sink their teeth into books. Their website sucks and doesn't allow fans to discuss stories and be more involved with the creators.
In my opinion every new book should have some sort of blog that goes along with it so that creators can nurture their fanbase and advance the narrative of the story. Comic books are all about world building so you would think that would be important. They just print #1's and leave the books to tread water on their own.

I agree with guys. It is a very disappointing stance to take from the leader of a company. Your customers are your lifeblood and he doesn't seem to appreciate us or his retailers for that matter. I've been promoting East of West for over 2 years and while the story is fantastic, the marketing is terrible. If this were a Marvel book I believe it would sell somewhere in the 50-75,000 copy range and Image is struggling to keep the book over 25,000 readers due to marketing and delays. Crazy.

Can you imagine if East of West had an interactive website with video/blogs/extra art?
It would be insane!
