Default Show off thread: Best impulse purchase

I got offered a card last night for a price that I thought was extremely fair and insta-called the seller...despite having spent way too much money on cards lately. I don't think I'll ever regret buying this one though:

Which brings up the question - what is your best impulse purchase to date?

You might regret it once you try to take the card out of that screwdown =) Nice card though.

I do not have a picture, but I bought a Box of Leaf Razor something when I planned on getting out of collecting as a "last box" type of thing. It was $100 for a box, and I expected to get a return of like $20. Instead, I got a Ted Williams/Carl Yastremzki Dual Auto /10. At the time it was the only dual the two Sox legends had.

That is epic - Teddy Ballgame has one of my favorite signatures. Bet it kept you in the game a little bit longer!

A few years ago, impulsively, purchased a box of 08-09 UD Radiance off eBay for $75. A sealed, hobby box from a random seller, not a dealer.

WHY?! Would someone buy that? Many people buy cases, pull the case hit, then sell the other boxes as single boxes to unsuspecting buyers.

Plus there's plenty of re-sealed boxes circulating.

Well, I bought it. When I opened it, to my amazement, there was a Michael Jordan AU Standard Gold Auto #/23 inside!

I later sold it for like $500-600 or something. Wish I still had it, it was my favorite MJ pull so far!

I go to Old Timers Day every year at Yankee Stadium with my father buddy and his dad. We go into the Steiner store every year to look at the items. We know that we are not going to purchase them because of the prices. I saw this item though and had some money from working the summer. I went back and snagged it. Came out to $500...may be high but its Steiner authenticated and I will be never be reselling.

One of the most elegant designs of a non-Exquisite product - I had the LeBron up until last week - great buy.
