Default New Paypal terms effective 11/18

Just saw an email from PayPal and the most glaring update I saw was buyers of merchandise will now have 180 days to file an item not received claim vs the 45 days now.

Just a FYI for everyone

I was reading this earlier.... How pointless, can people not deduce within 45 days if their package was shipped and/or in the condition it was listed as? Next thing you now, PayPal will want sellers to offer a one year warranty on all items.

So you could have someone buying prospects in April, only to return them in September if the season was unsuccessful. That's ridiculous.

On the other hand, shouldn't this help people buying pre-sale boxes that never get delivered?

Buy gold. It goes up, keep it. It goes down, send it back. Do they want scammers to thrive?

There has got to be something else to this. Surely they don't expect sellers to honor returns six months after the fact. That is insane.

Wow, another reason i don't sell on ebay anymore. By selling here if someone returns a card or files a claim 3 months later you can make a pretty interesting thread about them retuning an item after 3 months!!!

I'm figuring low end card sellers won't have a problem but when you sell that $300 or more card...pray!

There was a big thread in football a week back on this. Think someone pointed out that tracking doesn't even stay active for 6 months in some cases.

I was worried about this as well. One of the tracking options I use is only valid for 60 days. That's for tracking AND insurance.
If a buyer tries to return something as damaged, I'm probably screwed there as well.

I wonder if eBay's 30 day policy will supersede this (also odd that they would have such a big difference between the 2)?

Looks like this new policy broke the camel's back for me and I guess it's "Box Breaking" going forward .

the person returning something better have a valid excuse for returning something so far after purchasing especially a sports card. Might be time to get rid of paypal and find something else

This is a good point, especially since Ebay and Paypal are splitting.

PayPal did this to protect themselves from people who link their credit cards to PayPal. Most credit cards have a 180 day window. The way it was is that PayPal would eat any filebacks done between days 46 and 180. Now, Paypal has pushed those liability days back on the seller. It isn't right and it really exposes the seller to chargebacks.

I don't think eBay allows returns on gold or silver.

I sell used items such as watches watches on ebay too. so now a buyer could wear it for 3 months, drop it and return it as not working (not as described)? that is ridiculous.
