Default Craziest thing to happen to you in the Hobby

Thought this would be a fun topic! Try to keep it short, maybe 1 or 2 sentences. I'll go first..

Purchased a 1996/97 UD3 Court Commemorative Jordan Autograph and received it in a card saver and PWE.

Good topic.

Sold a card of Jeremy Evans on ebay. Went to ship it and realized that the buyer was..... Jeremy Evans. Then realized that his house is about half a mile from me and closer than the post office. I was going to just drop it off but he lives in a gated community.

You win....seriously just spilt my drink everywhere laughing...

What kind of idiot would send a card like that in a PWE...

Funniest for me....

I had a few hi end MJ's for sale on ebay, I guy wants to do some trades talking like he's got all the super rare cards....

So, he starts sending me pics of what he had....LMFAO

Little did he know he was sending me pics of my own cards I had just won off ebay only weeks before....

One after the other he sent me pics of cards I already owned or I knew the ''REAL" owners of....

Needless to say I had a lot of fun playing along....

A few days later his name pops up on blowout with people saying he's a known scammer....

Can't remember his name though?

I remember I got a Demar Derozen ip auto and some idiot offered me $2 delivered for it. His logic was he signs all the time. If that's the case you get his auto then and leave me the hell alone.

I pulled a Kobe EX-2000 Credentials RC from a pack.

And it wasn't mine. It was my buddies. He was letting me help him bust a box

See the PMG on the left? I got it for FREE from a great member because I helped him with something. (And don't ask me who.)

was rifling through some 90s boxes at a card shop to trade my newer stuff for, picking out some nicer stuff ($20-$40 range) just to have or maybe trade to other people.

Got home, realized the 1997-98 SPx "gold" Dennis Rodman was actually the grand finale /50. Sold it for $800 and bought my MJ auto, 06-07 chronology stitches in time /25 in BGS 9!

Yesterday, I found a bag under my desk with probably 100-150 unopened bubble mailers from eBay purchases, posted in Sept-Oct 2013. I opened two. I'll save the rest for a gloomy day.

This is the second time I've put mail away to open and forgotten about it.

I sent a $300 card overseas without tracking because I forgot. Surprisingly didn't go missing!

Maybe not the craziest but this happened to me recently. I went to my LCS to pick up supplies and browse through some 90s stuff they had. A guy walks in and picks up a box of immaculate and rips it on the spot. He flies through and and as he sees the last card says "Wow this stuff is garbage, you want this?" I tell him im not looking to buy anything newer and he just says I can have it all and walks out. Owner says hes never seen the guy before and since. LOL.

PS: best card in the box was a marshon brooks RC patch/auto /25 so the box was absolutely brutal but still funny to watch a guy spend $500 and give it away in less than 2 minutes.

I almost got scammed by Haiku before he was Haiku. This is of course, if Haiku = Jay Morgan. It was close to a 10k deal.

Card show- I was doing a show in 1995. Horrible day! Lost money on the booth and practically gave away the cards I sold. End of the day, packing up, found a 400 count box of 1995 finest refractors. The place was dead and I was one of the last people there. Mostly commons, but they were hot for a minute. I ended up getting $400 for the box. I have no idea where it came from.

eBay- I bought a '75( think) bob greise topps card for a fair-vg set I was making. The pic was bad but the description said better than poor. I got it and couldn't even use it- it was mint. I through it in with my next bgs submission and it got a 9. Sold for $75, bought for $3.50 delivered.

Other: I put an ad on the supermarket bb for cards wanted " mantle, Jordan, Ali, etc..". A guy called me with a kids collection. I looked and found a basketball collection with a few good Jordan inserts. I figure I can get $40 for the Jordan's so I gave him $20. I found a 1997 PMG common in the collection. Sold for $150, I didn't even know what they were at the time. (I would tell you who it was, but I promised the buyer I would never tell)

Good topic.

I got blister on my right index finger once when I open up a (2) 24 packs box.
If you do the math... that is 48 packs total in one sitting. It was so painful.

I don't get it, what if you are scammed? Its too late to open a case? And how do you forget to open mail like that?

I was quite busy at the time. Some days I received an entire USPS tub full of mail and I just stacked them up. I've found old stashes on a few occasions. This isn't planned. I do regret failing to leave feedback, though likely half of the sellers never left me feedback.

I trust that others do the right thing. I'd suspect some buyers who receive several hundred mailers per day don't open then right away.

I went to my lcs for the first year of Timeless Treasures basketball. Well the guy at the counter says that they sent it to one of their other locations 20 miles away. And the only other employee in the building doesn't drive. So I kidnap the non-driving employee and drive him to the other store where we grab that and a few other boxes and bring them all back to the original store. I opened up the tin and pulled a Kobe Bryant laundry tag auto 1/1.

opened two packs of bowman draft back in 2009.

I think you all know where this is going.

Got a Mike Trout Refractor auto. I sold it $65 when he was called up and then sent down(I think it was 2011).

That same card sold for $2300 recently.
