2 year postseason ban for the Mighty Trojans

LOS ANGELES -- Two media outlets are reporting the NCAA has decided to ban USC's football team from the postseason for two years and strip the program of scholarships.

The Los Angeles Times reported the NCAA sanctions include the loss of more than 20 scholarships. According to a story posted on ESPN.com on Wednesday night, the Trojans also will forfeit wins "from at least the 2004 season."

The penalties stem from the NCAA's investigation of allegations of improper benefits for Heisman Trophy-winning running back Reggie Bush during his time at the school.

Southern California announced in January that it had imposed sanctions on the basketball team for recruiting violations involving O.J. Mayo, including a ban on postseason play last season.

The ones that really are getting screwed are the potential players (high school kids) that would have gone to USC.

And, yes, the "brilliant minds" pulling the strings, making payments, et cetera will go untouched.

on ESPN they are saying its possible, but they wont know until the official announcement.

Also Vince Young has already said he wont take it if for some reason they offer it to the runner up.

Im glad vince young said he woundt take it, Bush won it on the field.I dont think vince young would wanna win such a prestegious award on a technicality.

The football team vacated its wins in 2005, was banned from postseason play for two seasons and lost 30 scholarships. The football team also vacated its 2004 BCS national title, and Bush surrendered his 2005 Heisman Trophy.

I just thought it would be an interesting read for people that were interested. I am a huge USC fan and like the facts finally coming out. NCAA has some explaining to do.

We all know that No Consequences Apply to Auburn. That's just not much of a defense.

If the NCAA ever strictly enforced its rules against all schools who cheat, the national title game would look like a 1940s repeat - Army vs. Navy.

The NCAA pops up every few years and busts a big school just to let the others take notice.

Penn State keeps a monster covered up for years and ends up with less of a punishment.
