Default Kevin Kiermaier - Man Crush Thread

Kevin James Kiermaier
Number 39 RF. 6'1, 195. Throws Right Bats Left
Born 4/22/1990 in Fort Wayne Indiana
Drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 31st Round in 2010
Debut 9/30/13.
2014: Rookie Season Stats: G: 65: .290 AVG, 9 HR, 29 RBI, 10 2B, 5 3B
Awards: 2014 MLBPA Heart and Hustle Award

As a hardcore Rays fan I just wanted to give Kiermaier a little love in the blowout community. Considering he has no real cards out there it's not surprising that he's not mentioned much on this forum. My hope is that he somehow ends up with his first MLB autograph card by the end of the season. Bowman Chrome would be ideal.

In what has been a very disappointing season for Rays fans watching Kiermaier has been the silver lining for me. And we have him under contract until 2020 Kevin gives it everything he's got on every play, including running to first base after a walk. He's giving the Rays some badly needed speed and pop in the lineup. And other than Loney he's been our best hitter.

Kevin always signs at games too. Often he'll come out thirty minutes early and make his way from the dugout to the first baseline signing autographs, taking pictures and enduring weird old man crushes.

Anyways, feel free to add on anything Kiermaier related I am going to try and figure out how to add videos.

Kiermaier has definitely been a spark. He plays hard and is morphing into a huge fan favorite here. Now if he could only learn how to hit with the bases loaded....

Got to watch him for a year in Bowling Green, and I am very surprised by his success. He had an absolute cannon for an arm. Saw him throw out many runners at the plate from deep center. I did not think he could hit enough to make it to double-A. I was wrong.

Are those his major league stats? 24 extra base hits in only 65 games is quiet good for a rookie, especially the 5 triples.

Yeah, those are his stats. Add to them a game winning RBI today against the Cubs. Kevin's gotta be the best player that nobody outside of Tampa/St Pete has heard about. Now if we could just get the good people at Bowman to make his chrome autograph rookie in the upcoming set .

Go Rays!

He impressed me the whole Brewers/Rays series. Could be quite the find.

He was really cool when he came through Columbus. Offered to come over and sign, but no one needed him. Glad to see he's doing well.

What will the Rays do with Myers when he is healthy now.

When Myers does come back they can just send Cole Figeouri down and Myers will DH. They do have a log jam in the outfield though with: Jennings, Kiermaier, Guyer, Myers, Joyce and Dejesus. I think they'll wait until September to bring Dejesus back. There's no way they'll send Kiermaier down again. And we can almost afford to trade Myers now, he looked terrible early this season.

Joyce, Guyer, and DeJesus will all platoon. Amazing how one good player like Kiermaier can really force the issue and throw a wrench into it all. Suddenly what was a solid 9ish WAR outfield becomes a 12 WAR outfield with millions of dollars in Joyce and DeJesus sitting on the bench.

Great story about this guy. I was at the Cubs/Rays game yesterday. During BP my girlfriend nearly got hit with a foul ball; it was a pop fly and she didn't see it in the sun and it was coming down right on her head. I noticed it at the last second and put my arm over her head and it bounced off my wrist and three rows back. Kiermaier came over to us and made sure we were both okay and we had a nice minute or two conversation with him. It was just us chatting while others were asking him for a ball and auto, instead he just talked with his. As he ran back to field BP, he ended up flipping me a ball. New favorite player.

I know this thread is years old and the Rays are still terrible...

What are everyone's thoughts on Kiermaier now?

Will he only continue to be an elite defender?

Interesting that the OP only has 20 posts in 4 years and 6 are in this thread. I guess he didn't like the quality of the responses.
