Over the last three years, my dad and I have traveled to both sides of the country to see games. We've been to Spring Training twice, Oregon twice, Baltimore, Myrtle Beach, and countless minor league parks. I'm truly blessed to have a father who comes and picks me up at the ballpark, and a father who still looks at baseball cards with me. We've been a lot of great places and met a lot of great people, but I've been blessed to be with my father through it all. I'd love to hear some of your stories with your father/family related to sports.

I was 7, playing toss with my dad. At one point he said, "This one I'm throwing hard." He threw it really hard, it got by my mitt and nailed me in the face. Cue nosebleed. Happy Father's Day !

Dad grew up going to county stadium in Milwaukee.
We went to Yankee Stadium for the first time together (I had only been to the "big concrete block" that was Memorial stadium) walking out from behind home on the upper deck simultaneously took our breath away. People behind us had to kindly remind us to keep moving. It was a warm, clear day and the place was packed. I had never seen anything like it. Dad dies in 1998, and we never got to go to Camden yards together. We've both been there. same seat. RIP TWP |

My best baseball memory with my dad happened a long time ago. When I was 8, I was having a tough time keeping my elbow up when I threw. My father went into the garage, came back with an orange life vest and duct tape. He proceeded to tape the life vest under my right armpit until I could no longer lower my arm below my shoulder and made me play catch with him. I cried but I sure as well never threw like a girl again!

Watching Sid Bream round 3rd and score on a Francisco Cabrera single to beat the Pirates in '92, with my dad, on TV. Still gives me chills when I think about it.

Nice. This reminds me of my dad and I throwing a football around (yes, i know... not a baseball story) when I was about the same age. He was probably 30 yards away and I told him to throw it HARD... he said no but I kept begging him. So he threw it, I put both arms out and caught it BUT it hit my chest before I caught it. Knocked the wind out of me. My dad ran frantically toward me because he thought he had killed me. Good times.

I went to Fenway Park to watch the Sox take on the Tigers on a July 4th. I remember Mo Vaughn hit a dinger, and Cecil Fielder hit a bomb on the Mass Pike. There was a laser light show afterwards, and its memory I'll always cherish.

When I was around 8 years old we had seats at a Mets game along the 1st base line. It was cool watching the players up close before the game and somebody tossed us a ball which we used for an autograph from John Franco. Later we were calling out to a Mets prospect at the time named Ryan Thompson. He smiled and as he was returning to the dugout said something like "I'll be right back" and we basically thought we wouldn't see him again. Sure enough, he stopped by a few minutes later to sign and let us take a couple photos. Definitely a great experience for a young fan and just thinking about it, I can't wait to bring my 2 year old girl to some games in the future and create some new memories.

I wasn't even present with my dad for my favorite baseball memory with him. During the 2006 world series I was travelling all of the time with work. On and off airplanes and never did get to catch a single game of that series. My father and I are both huge Cardinals fans. I was in the air the most of game 5 (the deciding game of that series) and had just landed and called my dad. He told me the Cards were up and Wainy was pitching to the last batter. My dad gave me the pitch by pitch account over the phone of the last at bat of the 2006 World Series. To hear your father give you a play by play and listen to his voice as his childhood favorite team and your childhood favorite team wins the World Series........that's a life long gift!!!

When I was in 1st grade, local guy got up a bus trip to see the Braves play. My dad bought us tickets, upper deck down the first base line. I had the time of my life that day, watching baseball with my dad.
2 summers ago I surprised him with a trip to Atlanta to see the Braves play the Cubs. Even with him being a Braves fan, I started following the Cubs as a young kid because they were on TV everyday after school. It was nice to experience a little piece of my childhood again.

I remember as a kid playing little league my old man talking about how he was the ONLY dude that could hit Billy Joe Crow when he played little league.
If Billy Joe Crow from Chelmsford Ma ever reads this I want to thank him and for him to know that just the thought of his name puts a smile on my face because I know that it would put a smile on my fathers face. |

My father passed when I was 10, but the many trips to ballparks were amazing. My favorite may have been going to Yankee Stadium(even as a die hard Sox fan). He told me the story of going to see his all-time favorite player, Mickey Mantle. He loved telling me about how he jumped on to the field to grab a foul ball(back in the early 60's when that didn't get you tased) . But my favorite baseball memory would have to be the last father's day he was alive. All four of his kids were over, and we played wiffle ball in the front yard for three hours. Still tear up sometimes thinking about. Also, relating back to cards, by far my favorite card in my collection is the '59 Mantle All Star he gave me. Its priceless to me.

Just me and my brother playing catch with my dad and my grandfather and my uncle in Cottonwood Corner, Arkansas. If I had known then, what I know now, I would do it everyday for the rest of my life.

I grew up in Arizona long before we had a team, and my dad took the family to 2 games (Dodgers and Padres). He was so excited for the first season we had a team in AZ! He split diamondbacks season tickets, so I got to go many games that year!
For the past 7 seasons I've been the one in my family that has had season tickets to the Diamondbacks so I've been able to return the favor and take him to around 10-15 games a year! It's really special when he comes to games with his grandkids! |

Prior to AZ getting a team, my dad and me flew out to San Diego for a Padres game. The game was Padres vs. Expos. In the 1st inning Tony Gwynn hit a solo shot....the game ended 1-0. It was one of the most boring games I've ever seen, but it's the game I remember the most with my dad as it was the only game we ever flew to go and see together.
