BIG EXQUISITE LOST/STOLEN Box ( MJ/Kobe/LeBron/KG/Bird/Rose...many others) NEED HELP!

Hi Guys,
unfortunately I'm here today for ask your help and support, instead of talking about this great hobby...but although I'm an high-end collector it doesn't mean I'm rich (well, I'm lucky and we have some money to spend) but this lost is really heavy for me and my family!!
With a great member on here, I usually send him my cards for grading and he helps me with Beckett, really hard to me also because like all the non-US collector customs and overseas shipment is always a trouble and this time the shipment had a big ISSUE!!
Like I asked to him he sent via Usps EMs box...really big box (about 29lbs) with a lots of high-end cards and almost all Exquisite!!
I was checking the shipping via USPS.com and I was excited because on Friday the box will be here...the guy arrived and given me the box and it was smaller than a shoes box and less than 2 lbs...so I asked him if there was an error, but he told me, no this is your box sir!
So I opened it and I found a microphone, what? I first thought my friend could did an error...but ? But he is always precise and can't do an error on a high shipment!! on the shipping documents attached all was fine, also the weights 29 LBS!!! What?!?! So I immediately called italian post to do a complaint but I think the can't do much, because I think my box never left the USA. I asked them which box they received and the girl at the phone told me they have pics of all international boxes and the one with that tracking was the small box of about 2lbs I received at home!
My friend will call police and also ship a list od cards to LCS...I called police too, but they told I can't do nothing, because juridically the ownership of the box is of the sender and so I can't do a official complaint, damn!!
May be was only a regular shipping issue, but at this days with all this scammer arround we always think the worst way...I think someone opened the box and exchanged the shipping documents. Placed my docs on a random box and keep the box or some of the cards!
I will provide pics of the cards, and I keep posted with news pics when I will find others on my PC or phone...instead the updated list of cards is this:

2) Can your friend show the receipt of the postal cost? The cost should reflect 29lbs, not 2lbs

3) How did your friend ship the box? Did he go to post office and buy the label?

4) How did your friend write your address? Did he write on a paper or write directly on the package?

5) Does the stamp show the location of purchace?

wow, that is a horrible story - I'm really sorry to hear about it and will keep an eye out. I had a similar thing happen with the USPS where somehow they claimed that the label came off the box. Funny thing is that we found some of the cards at the National.

sincerely I didn't ask any of those questions to my friend, because I trust him...I can ask him the numbers 3, 4 and 5
He told me he shipped in the usual office where he ships all his shipment, but I don't know else...I will ask.

I just try to help you because you don't want to want until those cards popping on ebay. That will be WAY too late. You want to get the most information within 3 days and ask your friend to file police report within a week.

This was on the news yesterday. It is a federal crime. If someone does it in the office, most often this is not the only time he/she does it.

I don't think you can report stolen items not after 72 hours. Anyway, it is just a rough timeline. Just don't wait a week before you or your friend talks to the police.

No insurance, because with customs fees I have to pay about %25 of the amount declared and we always did like this time and never had issues! Customs don't trust those items are mine if I putted real value I had to pay about $6250 in customs on some cards are already mine!!!

Then it's hard to claim any loss to post office and maybe even police since the pCkage had no value. You will probably need to get a lawyer involved just to get the attention of the post office to do a investigation. Yea that really sux and ure in a bad spot

Yes you are right!! I was lucky in those 10+ years of overseas collector, but with this loss I think to be burned for life....

EMS should come with $100 worth of insurance no matter what you claim.

I would put a claim in for that and just see what happens.

I've seen a few instances where packages were lost, and they magically reappeared after insurance claims were filed.

I would think that if you file for the $100 insurance claim the matter would be closed in regards to the post office. I am not an attorney though. I suppose you are right though. File a claim and HOPE it is considered serious enough to look for the package.

Anyway, I am just curious because the cards involved are very high end cards and I do not dabble in that market....what is the sell value of the lost cards. My guess is $15-20k in sell value.

Yes the value is arround that money...may be $25k if the market will restart, now it's a bit frozen! I don't know what to think, but this kind of situation let me think about leaving the hobby....

Yes I certainly do this hobby for passion like most of us, but at the same time I tried to invest also in cards I could sell in case of need...like you now are selling your Russell cards...sincerely I could lost that money, not easy to regain back all the money, but knowing some scammer earned them all, it's harder to accept than the loss itself!
