eBay needs to stop coddling the buyers and reinstate the ability for mutual negative feedback for sellers to give buyers (and suspend buyers with multiple negatives) so the buyers don't have always leverage and sense of pampas grandeur and swagger to always threaten sellers.

Thanks for the heads up.

Someone who leaves 7 neutrals & 8 negatives in the last 200 transactions is a person I'd rather not even deal with.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Have blocked him.

Hope you get it straightened out. I've had people get all upset because they bought something Saturday night and it hasn't been shipped on Sunday.

Little do they know the post office isn't open on Sunday.

Just gotta be nice & hope they don't make matters worse for you. Just don't give them a partial refund or anything like that.

Thanks for the heads up! It sucks having to walk on eggshells with eBay when you've done nothing wrong.

E-mails can be faked. They have no credence in any type of claim.

The best bet is to just block the guy and move forward. This thread would give the guy more leverage on the claim of harassment then an e-mail.

Isnt a week turnaround not considered good any more?

Just asking, but I never understood, and this is coming from a buyer, if a seller can get you the item in a week, how is that bad? Buyers with this expectation of paying then wanting the item the next day are ruining it for everybody. If you need it fast, go to a card show/shop/etc and pay for it. If you want Ebay prices, then expect Ebay shipping, just my two cents.

e-mails through eBay is what we're talking about - those cannot be faked and eBay can see everyone of them. I doubt the op was trading personal messages with the buyer off eBay. This thread is more easily fabricated than an e-mail through eBay every day of the week and twice on Sunday. I don't what you're thinking here...but it doesn't make any sense at all.

You mean a personal message thru Ebay then. Which can still be faked.

Can they? That's an extreme invasion of privacy of which I highly doubt Ebay would admit to unless you agree to such when you register.

First off there is an extreme difference between an email and a personal message. When you file a claim on Ebay, if they are asking for personal messages as proof that would hold very little credence in court. But on Ebay, who knows.

Secondly, this thread would have credence for a charge of harassment considering the OP posted the persons ebay nic on a neutral forum, tarnishing the persons reputation for no apparent reason outside of a baseball card auction gone bad. It sucks, to be sure, and I'm in no way defending the buyer, but you just cant go about these things like this in this day and age. I wouldn't, at least.

The best advice would be to block the guy and move forward.

Is it really? It's not personal messages, all messages should be about business through eBay, having them be able to see them helps settle cases and find the truth. Furthermore, they do have specific blocks and keywords to catch people who try to deal off their site.

But, if they could see them already why would they ask for them? Like I said, its an invasion of privacy unless you agree to it when you sign up. And if that's the case, if people actually read the fine print I highly doubt many would use Ebay in that reguard. It also answers the question why there is no communication on Ebay, if you think about it.

If you use Gmail, is it ok for Google to read thru your things looking for "truths"?

First, I know for a fact that eBay can see all the messages exchanged through eBay because I went through a case a couple of months ago and the eBay representative told me they were reviewing the back and forth I had with the seller. Second, eBay essentially owns these communications and you agree to their control, review, etc. when you sign up for an account. Lastly, I hate to burst your legal bubble, but e-mails, personal messages and hard copy documents that can be authenticated are absolutely 100% admissible in court as long as those communications don't involve advice from legal counsel. In fact, they are gold nuggets of evidence in cases of all types. Trust me on this, I've been a paralegal for about 12 years now and have been to trial a number of times. E-mails are admitted as evidence over and over in legal proceedings.

With respect to gmail or anyone else reading your e-mails, well, let's say you and I were in litigation over an issue and I knew that the proof I needed was sitting in your inbox, all I need to do is have my attorney subpoena Google for your e-mail and they have to turn it over. Now your attorney could fight it with a motion to quash or they could object, but it's going to be very difficult to keep that information out of the case. Privacy on the internet is very difficult to establish unless you are talking about medical records or communications with your attorney. Even then, subpoena power is far reaching and almost a certainty in most situations. That said, everyone should be very careful about what they put in e-mail and pms. All of that stuff is on back up tapes and other types of network storage devices long after you've deleted it. Trust me, one of my main functions as a paralegal is gathering, filtering, and organizing evidence, at least 50% of it is found in e-mails. Not trying to be a know it all here, just letting you know that your view on privacy is way off base. In short, counter to what you may think, you pretty much have no privacy on the internet.

Thanks for the heads up. I'm reading all of these horror stories lately on here. I only started selling cards on ebay and the last thing I need is negative transactions due to the buyer being impatient!

this whole case here would be open and shut. Did the buyer upload tracking on time, when did the item arrive. eBay goes by paypal tracking and they know when an item is activated by the Post office. If they card was shipped within a day and the tracking was uploaded within 24 hours of payment, and they see messages through eBay from the buyer bitching. Than the seller will win the case. That is all, if a negative is left the seller has enough evidence to get it removed. This stuff with buyers happens all the time. especially on low end sales because usually kids are winning these cards and get impatient.
