My daughters Make a Wish trip to see Felix Hernandez

Hey all, just got back from the greatest 4 days we've ever had in Seattle. Long story short, my daughter was granted a wish trip and chose to visit King Felix. I've had threads on here collecting Felix cards for her since she adores the guy. I can say, after this trip, we have an infinite amount of admiration and respect for Felix, the Mariners organization and Make a Wish. Here the quick video clip if you haven't seen it





I'll skip over the smaller details and jump right into the Mariners portion. We arrived Monday morning in Seattle and rested up. The time with the Mariners began at about 3:30 at warmups. I don't have a ton of pics yet, they told metro be natural and they would take care of em. So until I get them, I'll just use the generic few they provided publicly.

Sophia was presented with a custom #34 jersey with our last name on it before we took the field as well as 2nd row tickets to Monday and Wednesdays games. When we took the field, the first person to visit us was Jack Z the GM. He was a great guy and took a few pics with us.

It warms your heart to see these people waiting for her. First M up, standing and waiting for her was Aaron Harang, he was pretty cool. As he was signing I saw Mike Morse creep up the dugout steps. Well he eventually came over to interact with Sophia and us as well.



As she's making a mound of warning track dirt, a shadow comes over her. The next words spoken were "I like that number". It was non other than King Felix himself. he came over and tried to break the ice with her to no avail, so he did the next best thing. Got down and started making mounds with her.






Now lemme tell you, Mike Morse was great! From the pics you can see, he was totally in love with Sophia. He stayed for a long time with us. This is a great pic here. Some of the faces he made at her to smile were hilarious lol



We then got a visit from Kyle Seager, who was a heart patient when he was younger. He heard Sophia was gonna be there and insisted on coming over to meet her. They both had the same condition so he holds a special place in our family's hearts. Great guy again. Raul Ibanez came over as well, no pics of that yet, but once again, great guy.



Moving on, Sophia, Gabi and I took a detour to the clubhouse where thy had some corn dogs for the kids to eat. Little did Sophia know, she would have a lunch guest. From the video above it was Felix again to enjoy a corn dog with her.



Obviously all of the guys signed her baseball, but this was the coolest gift she received. He also signed he ball, card, and jersey



It's hard to type everything in here, because there was so much that happened.

The Wednesday game we were at warmups when Jack Z came over and greeted us again, followed by Felix stopping by. Jack chatted a bit about the prospects who were there signing and hitting BP. He left and brought our #1 pick DJ Peterson over to meet us and sign balls. After the anthem Felix came over for more pics.

Overall it's been a huge experience for Sophia and our family. Seattle was always a place where she went for procedures and hospital time, now it can be a place where we had a great time.

I'll add pics as I receive them. Needless to say, my daughters Felix PC is about to be worked on by me. If you didn't like Felix or the M's, here's a reason to do it. Felix is a King amongst men for what he did for my daughter. I can't put into words what it meant or what he did.

On another note, my wife got a new Twitter follower @RealKingFelix lol. He was chatting with us while we were at dinner on Thursday and he was in Oakland lol

I read about that on facebook. As I am a Mariners fan. Watched the video too. That was amazing. The Mariners super secret clubhouse or something? I saw he ate corndogs and everything with her. Felix is a super human being

Thanks everyone, yes, my daughter is doing great. This was her chance to not let her surgeries and struggles define her life. This was her opportunity to live the dream she wanted in Seattle

Its crazy to write about this, because it doesn't nearly cover the extent of graciousness that Felix showed us. It's honestly gard to describe every detail, but it wasn't sone short meet and greet.

The man genuinely cared for my daughter during and after their meeting. I would have never expected it, but he was beyond words.

This is a reason you don't trade the man as well, he brings things to the fans that others can't touch

The back story is my daughter was born with multiple heart defects. We had to have her delivered in Seattle, not home in Anchorage. She gone through 5+ surgeries including 2 open heart since 2008 with the most recent open heart done in May of this year.

My wife applied her for the trip so Sophia could experience so etching really positive in her life after all the negative. They interviewed her as well as her doctors as recommendations. They asked what she wanted to do, and she chose

1. Meet Felix Hernandez

Or

2. Meet Taylor Swift

Yeah, our whole family are HUGE Mariners fans. We watch every game and try to travel there occasionally for games.

I was surprised she picked that as her MAW, but she was smitten, as we can all see. I would think a lot of girls her age would want the T Swift thing as well.

That was awesome. She is precious and will never forget that. Felix seems like a great guy along with Seager and Morse. Glad y'all had a great time!
