-Just picked this up, looking for unscientific gut feelings (and no peeking at my eBay account) to see if you can guess the grade. No prizes, though if enough of you guess correctly you can take comfort in knowing i thought more highly of this card that SGC does. SOrry for back scan quality, my scanner gave me fits on that one for some reason.

-40 it is!
I guess with decent corners, borders, centering, and no noticeable creases, i don't understand the 40. Then again, i'm damn happy with the card, 40 or no. Congrats to the winners, here's your prize:

Are there any small surface wrinkles if you tilt sideways?

No way that card grades a 40 (= PSA 3) without some kind of creasing. It might be light, but they must have found something. Still overall good eye appeal to the card. And if the card really is VG, I guess a 40 looks better than a 3.

-I tilted, magnified, used a jeweler's loupe, etc before i busted it out of the case. No wrinkles, spider lines, anything.
After getting it out of the case, the upper left corner has a 'bend' to it. No crease, no wrinkle, but a bend. I consider myself familiar enough with vintage to hold a conversation with folks, but for the life of me cannot figure the 40. Surface marks included, i just don't knw. Then again, you *do* get a bit biased when you drop a few benjamins on a card. I fully acknowledge i'm infatuated with the presentation of the card. Will get scans of the naked card to ya when i have time. Happy hunting all, have a good night. lobo_hacker Last edited by lobo_hacker; 05-29-2013 at 08:56 PM. |

This is one of the reasons I don't send cards to any grading companies. Do they provide an explanation as to why your card received a particular grade or do they just send the card back encased? If they don't provide an explanation that's total BS. I've been collecting vintage cards for over 40 years and have never sent a card to any company, when I see them at shows they look lazy and unprofessional. Why should I put my card in the hands of somebody that may be having a bad day and they give you a crappy grade due to it? There's no way that's a 40 IMO but I'm not the expert, I guess the grading card companies are...
