Man, Prestige used to be one of my favorite sets to put together, buy and resell. #'d XTRA POINTS, Retail Version XTRA POINTS, good inserts and the SP's were always a fun money maker.
That all ended after the 2009 set. (Which is still my favorite rookie class) 2010 was a joke...the retail offering was crp, the card quality tanked...but i still enjoyed the SP's, etc....but then they tried to pull this off as a card (not this player, just this look to the set) ![]() I'm still dissapointed. My question, is this a result of Panini or did they get rushed to production because of lock out?? Or am I looney for thinking this year's version of prestige is the biggest joke of a card release (not that Rising Rookies was better, but it's not a staple like Prestige) |

I did have this set completed but gave alot away this Christmas to the kids. I kept the SP's and top rookies for trading. I also think this set is bogus looking and the quality has went down for them.

2010 and 2011 Prestige are lacking in large part because they had to edit the NCAA unis, because UD has had sole NCAA card license rights. regarding the cards, the edited unis leave a lot to be desired IMO.

There were several problems with Prestige over the past few years.
The last good Prestige product was 2008. 2009 just had a good rookie class to support it. Starting with 2009, they took away all the foil from everything. Xtra Points actually used to be good looking and good selling parallel sets. But who wasnt to buy a parallel #/50..with just a change or hint of color aorund the border. Horrible idea. 2010 wasnt horrible...but again still no foil. And they did stick a nice surprise with the product- the extra SP RC of the draft day jerseys. But i tihnk these were around 1-2 a case, just like the regular SP RC. this year, they completely tanked. Still no foil...and to take advantage of people liking the draft day SPs, they killed the value of those by making those 1 per box. Couple that with not having Newton or Ingram signed in time... and while not their fault, UD taking the NCAAlicense meant they couldnt use any college logos/uniforms etc. Which is why the RC look so horrible. Hopefully in 2012, they finally go back to foil..get Luck signed on time whatever it takes...and find a way around the NCAA logo/uniform issue. Or else it will be doomed to fail again. |
