Anyone planning on attending the Cleveland National July 29-Aug 2, 2009?

I thought we had a few threads on this but i can't find them.

Here's the info on the National

Hotels in the area:

I went middle of the road and booked ours at the Candlewood Suites (using my rewards points), but I figured 74.95 a night wasnt that bad (also w/in .5 mi of the mall...so for wife she may head there and leave me at the show

...but no breakfast, so gonna have to stock up on bagles

Figuring on driving down Friday night, spending all day Sat at the show, then probably coming home sometime Sunday. Unsure if I'll get any auto's or not. Given at best I could 2-3 days, not sure the VIP ticket is worth it.

Figured depending on whats announced prior to the convention, might also be a decent thread to try and if anyone wants to do a big break on something. At this point, willing to go in on something, but wondering if it just might be easier if everyone who wants to do X product, gets theirs and then we can bust/trade on the spot?

I plan on going. I grew about about 30 minutes west of Cleveland so I get the best kind of lodging(FREE) along with grandma's cooking and getting to go out with some good friends.

Depending on what product you want to break, I would definitely be up for a break. Heck, we could almost do some live group breaks there if there are enough of us. Do it just like we do here on the forums. Maybe draw hits out of a hat.

It'll be in Baltimore in 2010. Kind of surprised about it, the real east coast Nationals don't tend to do well.

i'm considering going haven't been to a national since Atlantic City...won't really know for sure until about Jun...If i do go would be nice to meet some of you board memebers in person and i would definately be interested in doing some kind of insane group break

ps...do they have a nice RED LIGHT district in cleveland?

Assuming I still have a job (no safe bet in the vehicle industry in Michigan) and Obama stops bad mouthing the economy (to stick the problem legacy on the previous administration) I will be going. I went to the Cleveland National in 2001.

Most likley wont be going, but there is still a chance.

I went last year when it was in Chicago and it was very fun. Id have to make sure I have no Baseball Tournaments that I have to play in, but if I dont then id have to convince my dad -.-

I live about 45 minutes out of Cleveland so I am planning on going every day. If anyone books a hotel in the Akron/Canton area we could carpool.

I will be there, live in Erie PA which is about 1.5 hours away. Went last year in Chicago and had blast. Stayed close to the Blow Out table and bought a heck of lot boxes to break at the UD and Donruss tables. If you plan on a massive break, I am IN!!!

Rob, I will most likely be there Saturday. I will leave here Saturday A.M and come home that night most likely since it is only an hour and a half drive for me. Just give me a shout if you get something going on a break or just want to split something, I would probly be up for anything really. Depending on who is coming, I will probly get autos too for the PC memorabilia collection

We'll get something setup for it! My guess is the next month or two we'll start seeing whats being released about that time. Should be one or two products scheduled to release about the time of it and maybe we can work on those...or we find out what BO does for sales this year and we got nutz on that!

Just a friendly bump in case anyone has seen anything scheduled to release about the time of the National. As of right now I've seen very little. But its still probably 30 days to early to start trying to figure out what we might have for case break options. I still havent emailed Chris to have him check out this thread and see if there's anything he may want to bring. I know last year he did the 06 UD Blasters and it sounds like they were a big hit...who knows, maybe this year if he's still got any 07 FB those will be used?

But here's what I've seen:
09 Donruss Classics FB releases July 1 and 09 Icons Baseball is July 14. I checked last years release schedule and Goudy was the last week in July (now Apr 28) so its been moved up. Topps FB was July 16 (no info yet)

I've got that idea as well floating through my little brain. Working on picking up a webcamera capable of doing live streaming, so that I can try and see about maybe doing some live feeds from the Booth Area (last year Blowout had an area set aside for breaking product). Biggest thing will be to see what Blowout comes up with for products. I know there will be some show exclusives. Biggest thing will be to see what there is, how much it costs, and then see who and wants. This could literally be something that is done in 48 hours or less. I wont bring my printer, but could keep stuff sorted so that its shipped once I get back on Sunday.

The only non-depressing time in cleveland. Every other august. If anybody needs any advice as to the best "spots" around town let me know.

Oh yeah i forgot to mention that i work in a hotel downtown (right next to progressive field... still like the jake better). I already made our sales dept. set up a special rate and such for anybody attending the national. The indians are playing the tigers on the weekend of as well. If anyone is interested just let me know and i'll give you the number to call and everything else. It's only a 15-20 min. straight shot to the I-X center.
