Default A word of advise to new collector's

As described in my first post, I've been away from the hobby for approx.12 yrs. Today I anxiously received my very first online auction sports card purchase. To make a long story short I ended up paying what I felt was a hobby price for a retail box of 2003-2004 fleer ultra bsk. I immediatley was pissed, so I went back to the auction page and sure enough they didn't disclose one way or another whether it was hobby or retail. Upon seeing this, I shot the seller an e-mail voicing my displeasure. After thinking about it for the past hour, I have no one to blame but myself. I should have been more thurough when looking at the auctions page. They sent me exactly what they said they would. Illegal..no...underhanded...I think so. I have a kg finest rookie and a kobe finest rookie coming any day now and I'm hoping I will have a much better result than I did today. To all new collector's out there, do your research and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Good post!

There are tons of Ebayers that don't pay attention to the item descriptions and just as many sellers trying to sell items of a "shady" nature. There are countless wonderful sellers on Ebay, so don't let the bad ones keep you from buying from the good ones.

Post a link to the auction. There might be misleading info in there that made you think it was "hobby" when it was actually retail. If that is the case, you should be able to file a PayPal claim and recoup some of your lost $$ because the item was not as described.

Sucks that you may have been duped here. Don't let it deter you from buying though. Just make sure you always look into the seller before making the bid. At the very least, make sure his feedback percentage is good.
