Default Just for Fun - Topps Finest - Things I Dislike

Love the product and opened up a couple cases which I'll hopefully get posted here in the next day or two. There are a few little things though that I didn't like.

1. This product is a tease. If the auto's on the patch cards were on card this product would be lights out and just for fun they have one card in a case (if you are lucky) with an on card auto just to show you how great they would be.

2. Why is Vick #1 and not Rodgers (#50)? That bothers me.

3. Does topps have any idea how freaking hard it is to put the atomic die-cuts into penny sleeves? My goodness.

Base card numbers have never been relevant. Sometimes it's a big name other times it's a nobody.

I got a couple more to add to the list.
4. No Texans,Bears,Steelers,Eagles or Seahawks RC hits
5. The same 5 teams hit over and over.
6. Only 2 hits in a $100 box.
7. Redemptions out the yin-yang.
Other than that, I guess the product is good LOL.

No Eagles hit? Isn't there a triple auto Eagles card on the checklist?

Yes there is, Vick/McCoy/Jackson, but there are no rookie hits.

Very few skill position players were drafted by the Eagles/Bears. That's part of the reason. You can only put so many Offensive Linemen and Defensive Players in a rookie set.

My one beef with the product is the price point. 2 hits and 12 packs for $100 is too much. Otherwhise the cards do look nice.

I get what you are saying. But Topps is really alienating fans of these teams. I for one will not open any Topps product this year until they get some Texans rookies in them. My point is JJ Watt is a top 15 pick and looks like a contender for Def. ROY, but he has no hits in Topps.

true...unless you count rising rookies

I'm supercollecting Watt this year and was disappointed to see he wasn't in Inception and now again disappointed that he isn't in Finest. Also still waiting to get my first card of him in an NFL uniform which i've yet to see...lol

Wonder if he is gonna get snubbed in all the good Topps products this year...

ok..how exactly is this alienating fans of said teams?? How long have you guys been collecting cards?? The only jerseys available were the ones at the Rookie Premiere...its going to be the same for every product that comes out that features "Rookie GU/Patch Autos", thats how its always been.

If you want "hits" odds are your just going to be getting sticker Autos most likely from Panini (Prestige, Threads, Contenders, etc)

only complaints i have:

-I know its 1 Patch Auto and 1 Jumbo Relic Auto...why exactly couldnt they just make both hits Patch Autos? The Jumbo Relic window size is about the same size as the Inception sizes...and thats not a "sweet hit" after pulling a Patch Auto..woohoo an all 1 color Jersey Auto!

-I dontmind the redemptions as much..the vets mightve been harder to get Autos of due to the lockout, and the only Rookie redemption was the same as Inception- Titus Young. But explain to me how they have BOTH LIVE Autos and REDEMPTIONS for Todman?? does not compute

Other than that looks like a good product. Probably not much of a flip though.

Just wondering if you noticed that on-card autos in Finest are 1 in every 2 cases and the rest of Panini's products this year have on-card rookie autos.

The fact vets only drop 1 per case on average and %90 of them are redemptions puts the nail in the coffin for me. The design was also better in 2010 IMO

I'll let you know how the flip goes, Actually my first case doing a "full" flip. I only pulled 2 cards that I'm keeping.

As for live and redemption autos of the same player, I guess they ran out of stickers for him during production. Just bad planning

wasnt meaning that as a dig to either of the products, but Panini has had sticker Autos in Prestige, Elite, RS and Threads...

Just meant that they have a wider base of rookie autos and dont focus as GU/Auto Patch/Autos. I think that only base Topps had the RPA's and a few bigger rookies on stickers, Inception's hits were all RP rookies, Finest hits are all RP rookies...even Topps Chrome Autos are RP rookies.

Nah didn't think it was, just stating what I have seen. Any rookies that we're not at the RP though will defiantly be stickers in every product.

I hated Prestige, Elite and Threads, Although the letter autos can be considered on-card I guess.... Rookies and Stars turned out much better then previous years but still not a great product by any means

When you list all the teams that don't have RC autos look at past products...each year a few of the teams don't have any big Rookies that go to the premier..last year for example would be the Falcons, Dolphins, Jags, Bears, Colts, Saints, 49ers and whoever else. It changes year to year with stuff.

I feel studio and Texan on the Watt omission since Patrick Peterson has been a no show in Finest and Inception. Did these guys not sign with the NFLPA or something?

thats what bummed me out. no steelers hits at all. i personally love finest, but with no steelers hits it kinda makes it hard to buy any.

People bashing the price point for the two hits need to keep in mind that Topps Chrome, one of the most collected sets every year, has one hit at $50-$60. Get two boxes of that and, lo and behold, it's the same price as a box of Finest.

I like the look of this and platinum. But what i dont like is that Clay Matthews isnt in EITHER. They put him in inception, but not these?? Hell, id even take base cards with a few parallels

Yeah, no Clay Matthews is bad. I just realized there is no Sam Bradford in the base as well - but they have a Tebow? There is no Sanchez Base as well.

You're dead wrong. Topps sets used to reserve "better" numbers for the superstars.

Take a look back. Cards numbers 1, 50, 100, 200, 300, 400 etc...have always been a superstar player.

And I'd rather have a Finest patch auto than a plain Topps Chrome auto. Plus the parallels and refractors for Finest are more plentiful and nicer cards in general.

But, why are people bashing the price point anyway? Consumer demand is what drove it up. I locked in when it was $87.00 a box. If nobody bought it, we'd be picking it up at $79 right now. There's a reason it is $100+ again.
