Default Unofficial First Buzz: 2026 Topps Finest Fantastic Four

This set is coming out Tuesday.

Seems like it'll be better than Brooklyn at least.

I know I'll end up buying some (I bought some of Brooklyn).

There is a subheading “relic” in the checklist with the following:

RELIC

FANTASTIC CREATORS
FC-01 Jack Kirby
FC-02 Stan Lee

COMIC EXCERPTS: SILVER SURFER
CE-01 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #2
CE-02 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #5
CE-03 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #6
CE-04 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #7
CE-05 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #9
CE-06 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #14
CE-07 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #1
CE-08 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #50
CE-09 Silver Surfer Silver Surfer #64
CE-10 Silver Surfer Thor #193

So I guess we are getting a bunch of Silver Surfer comic cuts, but I wonder what the Lee/Kirby relics are? Cut autos?

Agree. This one looks kind of loaded though. Sketch cards to chase as well. On the surface, this looks like a better product than Cap 85. So this one should sell well too.

This was getting mentioned as "the first original art Marvel set" in the greater non-sport-o-sphere, which is a much bigger deal than Topps is advertising. If it was an actual Masterpieces or Galaxy clone they'd be hyping it up more...

And duh… description gives me the answer if I would have read it… “ultra-rare cut signatures from legendary creators Jack Kirby and Stan Lee” … those are huge hits! Kudos to Topps for going out of their way to include those!

That caught my eye as well. Looks to be a hybrid MCU/Comic set, I might be in for a couple boxes if the price isn't too crazy.

Yeah… they look like they did a good job assembling the checklist and inserts. Would love to see what the Silver Surfer comic cuts look like. Having a full short checklist subset focused on just him should make for a highly collectible chase for many as he has a good following.

Wow, looks really good and you gotta love a stealth release that actually delivers

Hoping to snag a box or two but we know how this will likely play out

I wish they'd use the OG Finest technology on these. They're just Chrome with a different name now.

Can't wait for the absolute flood of "Powerplant Worker #1" and "Powerplant Worker #2" autos. They are going to do to Marvel what they did to Star Wars, just load up the checklist with background characters that don't even have a name.

To be fair they were Johnny Storm and Thing in the Roger Corman FF movie from the 90’s. The dual is a fun card actually!

DA-JM Jay Underwood Powerplant Worker #1
DA-JM Michael Bailey Smith Powerplant Worker #2

Also what’s with the repeat numbering of some cards in the base set? Wonder if base checklist got updated somewhere along the way and they didn’t delete the cards that were replaced or if they are “rare” variations?

No worries … there is no shame with the Corman FF.

Does anyone want MCU Fanastic Four cards, though?

The designs look pretty cheap and cheesy to me.

I had an inkling that Jack Kirby's wife actually signed many of his purported signatures, and so I did a Google to find out. Welp, I was right:

Quote:
Kirby didn't sign covers. His wife signed thousands of books when he was on his deathbed.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/comi...0264124792045/

Quote:
I showed it to Rich Henn and he said it was possibly "Roz" his wife, who apparently signed for Jack in this era.
https://boards.cgccomics.com/topic/4...ack-kirby-sig/

His wife even helped ink his drawings:

Quote:
But he still didn't like inking. So what he'd do was to have Roz take a pen — usually one with a fairly inflexible tip so it put down a very static line that didn't get thinner or thicker — and she'd trace his pencil lines. Roz had a little experience in fashion illustration, mostly doing ink linework on drawings by others. That's what she was doing when they started dating.

Marvel's corporate brand synergy dictates the female version of Silver Surfer.
