Default 2nd year autos for bedard over rc patch autos

Soo I really enjoy patch autos and I was thinking of getting a Bedard rookie patch auto. My problem is rookie cards are just player worn but if you buy a 2nd year auto it comes with a game worn jersey. So 2nd year autos come with rookie game worn patches? Kinda makes me prefer having a 2nd year over first year. What do you guys think?

1. His Cup RPA is actually game-worn im pretty sure
2. It’s possible some of his “update rookies” aka ones that are in later products because they couldn’t make their deadline for whatever reason can have some game-used pieces
3. Collect what you like, or admit it’s about value lol. People make their own arguments about why something is good and then ask the board lol that makes me lean more towards you’re looking for some sneaky way to get a cheaper Bedard that’ll have higher value due to a “rookie patch” ……..well no if that’s your intention those won’t hold like an RPA game worn or not, it’ll be treated as a second year mem card or auto. May sound dumb but value wise 99% are gonna take the RPA non game worn over second year, everyone tries to find their little card hacks but your logic doesn’t =hobby logic it’s the same as thinking a numbered rookie that probably has less copies overall than a YG from an undesirable set is better than a YG, no because the YG is always gonna be more popular and thus more valuable

Bedard Cup are indeed game worn, which some used to justify the jump in pricing. Celebrini is back to player worn, but the prices are not dropping.

Funny how that works.

There's a lot of "hot take" energy here, but I agree with all of it. Especially the part about these innocuous questions masking an underlying 'market play'.

Buy what you like, and if not -- buy low sell high. It's is quite literally that simple.

Collect what you like, and if you like stuff other people don't like as much then it's cheaper to get stuff you like.

Just don't trick yourself into believing that the rest of the hobby will come around to your opinion. This dynamic has been at play with UD RPAs going back at least 20 years now - I'm talking I have a Chris Paul RC Limited Logos that's player worn. The overall market preferences are pretty well established.

I recall during COVID a few people touting chasing 2nd year cards in general for sneaky value, the hobby did not follow along.

The advice already is best, buy it if you like not if you want to profit.
