Default Damaged Card

Hi Everyone,

I purchased a rare card on ebay to get graded. When I received the card it had a big crease in the middle (not in the description on ebay). I put in a claim with ebay for a return "item didn't match description". The seller rejected my return and it says "the return is closed". Now, I want to contest the rejection through ebay, but there is no escalation option on the decision. Does anyone know why this is? I've had this happen before and never had a problem escalating an issue on an item that didn't specify a "crease" or "damage".

No idea but call eBay or message them on social media (they're pretty responsive on IG) ASAP.

How was the card condition listed? If something other than Near Mint or Better, that could be the reason.

How long after tracking shows you received the card did you file the case? If more than 3 days, that could be the reason?

Was "Item Arrived Damaged" not an option for you to file your case?

Was the card over $250 and go through authenticity guarantee?

I opened a case 3 business days after receiving the card.

The listing said "Excellent". That would have been fine, if it didn't have a crease. A crease on a card from the early 2000's is VG or lower.

The policy is 3 CALENDAR days, NOT 3 Business days. So did you actually wait till the 4th or 5th calendar day? This would explain whey it just shows closed and no escalate to eBay button (you don't escalate a closed case, you appeal it, which you still can, but it's not a button). You snooze you loooze!

Here is what it says on ebay:

You can start an appeal by selecting the item above, or by following these steps:

Find the item in your Purchases.
Select See case details.
Select Send us an appeal.
Fill in the details and select Submit

In the case details there is no "send us an appeal". Is there another way to appeal the case?

Was the card graded? Why is this in the graded card section?

Well, I guess if you waited longer than 3 days, then there is nothing to appeal....

They are taking an appeal on this case. Even though it was after the 3 day window, the seller is responsible to deliver a non-damaged item. I have to wait three business days, then ebay will look into the case because of the "money back guarantee".

Like right here: https://www.blowoutforums.com/forumdisplay.php?f=44

Though that forum is more for selling, not buying.

TBH, I don't think you have much of a case here. The seller estimated the condition to be Excellent and you think it's a grade or two below that. Without the Authenticity Guarantee, it's the gamble buyers take with every purchase of a card online. eBay does not force sellers to list all flaws in the title or description.

Would be fun if the OP posted a link to the auction. As for the condition of "excellent", per ebay terms, it can't include any creases other than "surface wrinkles"

I started an appeal and won the case. I will be refunded the money because the card came damaged with a crease.

"Excellent" is a 5 grade at PSA. The maximum grade for a creased card is a 6, so a crease does not eliminate it still being within the described state.

Thank you! As a seller, you should mention in the description that the card has a major crease in it. The picture showed no crease. Did this happen when they packed the card? Maybe...
