Default All-Time Receiving Yards List - What's Your HOF Cut-Off?

Curious what you each think the cutoff is on the All-Time Receiving Yards List?

What's the magic number for the HOF Career Lock?

15,000 puts a player in the Top 10. Everyone except Larry Fitzgerald, who is not yet eligible, is inducted. Only 6 players have reached that milestone.

For modern players (Post-1980), what do they need to even be considered?

I know there has to be a difference between the 80's Henry Ellard and Irving Fryer when looking at 00's DeAndre Hopkins and Davante Adams. Who is more likely to make it?

Does it come down to All-Pro Teams, Pro Bowl Teams, consistency?

As for cut-off, for me its gotta be Anquan Boldin at #14, some might think Torry Holt at #17. Hall of Very Good or HOF?

Oh, I think I see where this is headed, and I don't like it.

Not one bit.

Mike Evans is a HOFer every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

When Rod Smith retired I thought he was a lock for the HOF. He'll never get in now IMO.

There will be SEVERAL hall of very good receivers who I personally believe will never make the hall . Brandon Marshall, Chad Johnson, Torry Holt, Derrick Mason, Anquan Boldin, Jimmy Smith & Keenan McCardell.

Julio Jones could sneak in with the "muh peak" argument. Does Hines Ward sneak in with being a Steeler and a SB MVP?

Reggie Wayne & Steve Smith will be the two most interesting. They both have over a 50% chance, but they will have to wait and there is a small chance one doesn't get it.

Evans, Hopkins, Allen & Adams will probably fall into the category that some will want them in the hall, some won't. All four still have time left to cement themselves.

Antonio Brown would have been a bonafied lock to Canton, but completely self-sabotaged that. Hill & Diggs will probably have numbers that make them iffy, but their personal conduct combined with WR backlog will probably keep both players out.

Deandre Hopkins or Mike Evans? Who ya got? How do they match up? DHop was a first team All Pro 3 times and none for Evans.

Yards don't really mean much anymore. Soon the season will be 18 games and every year there are new rules making it harder to play defense {Qbs have more time to throw/not scared to get hit). Going to have to do alot more than just yards.

For instance I'm more impressed with Hines Ward's career/play with only 12,083 yards than I am with Isaac Bruce who has 15,208 yards.

The yards by themselves really don't. Calvin Johnson and Muhsin Muhammad have roughly the same yard total. One was elected first ballot, the other isn't even considered.

Sterling Sharpe being elected into the HOF also eliminates yard total as the "be all end all" as well as far as I'm concerned.

Evans did it with the same team and won a ring. That has to give him a slight bump over DHop.

For me it comes down to the good ole eye test, lot of these numbers now going to be super inflated especially for receiving yards in today’s game .

Evans and Adams are locks for the HOF. Both have over 100 rec TD's

Every WR and TE who is currently eligible to get in and has at least 87 TDs is in the HOF. Evans and Adams are both past 100.

The others who are retired but not yet eligible are Fitzgerald, Gronk, and Graham. Graham might be the only debatable one not to go in with 89 TDs but I think he will even get into the HOF at some point.

Have to go down to Hines Ward at 85 TDs before you find a guy who is eligible to get in and not in.

I believe so as well, but Evans will have to wait behind Davante and DHop.

I am other way I think Evans is ahead of both those two. Hopkins IMO borderline HOF player right now. He can get another couple more good years then yeah he should get in also.

Evans has 0 All-Pros. That is THE grading standard for HoF induction. When you see folks like Sharpe and Megatron getting in over stat-accumulation guys, this is why.

Whenever I see this hot take, I just smh. It's such a dumb myopic take.

You know other players who had zero first-team all-pros, or zero all-pros (off the top of my head)?

John Elway
Andre Reed
Roger Staubach
Troy Aikman (ZERO All-Pros)

ALL in the PRO Football Hall of Fame.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think Ben Roethlisberger was ever an AP? Meaning same as Aikman. Never even made 3rd team

I know he’s not in yet but obviously he’s a lock

Just because someone is better than someone else doesn’t mean both can’t be HoFers.
