These days, Absolute looks more like Elite than Elite does.

That is... a design indeed

To support my point... we have the huge top and bottom borders that the player, but not the background, overlaps. Just my random 2 cents....

Absolute is one set from Panini that I sure won't miss. Although many Panini base designs weren't exactly good, Absolute designs were always boring and forgetful. Only positive from Absolute was that it was a easy cheap way to get RC base cards (at least for how I collect).

Absolute's calling card, once upon a time, were their wide range of memorabilia cards, including Tools of the Trade, which took swatches from different parts of a player's uniform and inserted them into the card, but those are no longer unique in the hobby. Even the Absolute Glass plaque cards, which were highly sought after, hit their peak, and Absolute Football scrapped making them years ago.

I'd say Absolute's greatest contribution to the hobby the past few years were their unique Historical Duals Autographs. I enjoyed putting together the Mike Alstott/John Lynch rainbow when the cards were offered on Panini's website.

Other than those it didn't have much to offer, and the base cards are not special.

Apparently there's a new type of Kaboom with Super Bowl logos on them. SportsCardInvestor posted a picture of one below. Maybe it's just a mock up, but not sure why the XL stamp is on a Jalen Hurts card. He was 7 years old at the time.

The case hits are nice, the cards in general are garbage though.

The old timers remember when this set was called Absolute Memorabilia. And each box, had a piece of memorabilia in it.

2001 gave us signed mini's, with those obnoxious massive COA stickers.

2002 was the framed jersey things

2003 was the glass plaques

By 2004, there was Absolutely no Memorabilia. At least they finally changed the name to remove memorabilia.

I remember pulling a David Carr glass auto back then. Good times.

fwiw I think the design is much better than the previous year's, but that's not saying much.

Are the base rookies /375 or unnumbered?

I see differing reports…?
