Default Topps Hologram authenticator....

Earlier tonight, I saw a 2024 Topps Tribute Stamp of Approval Relic with the hologram number visible. The website confirmed it was this exact player's "Alternate Road Navy-original hologram" from a game played 10/18/23. When I check that date in the MLB archives, the only game played that day was game 3 of the ALCS(Houston 8 Texas 5). The card is for a player that has never played for either team and the team he did play for on that date did not make the playoffs.

Minors or different league play in October?

Why wouldn't you state the card and hologram number so people could research to see if there is an explanation? Withholding that info makes it seem like you have an agenda.

I once thought an Acuna sticker had something similar going on. Turns out that was just the day it was tagged wasn’t the same at the game it was from. You needed to click on a second link to get the game specifics. Post the hologram number and we can take a look.

This is the correct answer. You have to go another level down the authentication rabbit hole for the actual game your relic comes from.

Agenda??? No. It's an observation...but thanks for immediately thinking anything I might post on the forum for this "hobby" would be some sort of initiative!

Might be the same one then!

Thanks. Did not realize that!

The first code is when they stickered the card since a game-used jersey only has one hologram when it's in one piece. Below is the original number hologram on the jersey. He went 1-for-5 -- an RBI double.

I didn't say you had an agenda. I said withholding important information gives that appearance. Had you just given the information immediately, you would have gotten a correct explanation quickly and it would have been over. But thanks for immediately thinking the date you saw meant something fishy was going on.

Thank you for your reply. Apparently I do not understand how this Topps program works and I was incorrect based on the Blowout Buzz post. I have requested that this entire thread be deleted. I should stay in the shallow pool of collecting what I like and not venture into areas that I am unfamiliar.

The MLB Authentication sticker program remains undefeated -- the authenticators take their job seriously.

For what it's worth, I thought your question was a good one and your confusion was understandable. I'm sure this thread will help someone else in the future, who might search and find it. I do not think it seemed like you had an agenda or any other negativity, just because you didn't post the code right away, and I wouldn't worry about anyone who seemingly thinks ill of you for it.

The confusion was understandable. Flat out claiming they screwed up by putting the wrong player's jersey in it with the emoji was the issue I had. When you call a company out, be right, or get crapped on. Had he just asked a question, that would have been different. That's not what happened.

My opinion is that you should not crap on people, and that leading with that attitude is quite negative and uncharitable. Thanks for the response, and have a good one.

My opinion is that a person shouldn't make a post to crap on a company, especially when they don't know what they are talking about. Thanks for the response and have a good one.

My opinion is everyone is tough behind a keyboard.

Well, that’s not an opinion. That’s fact.

Yes you are.

And that's why people don't think twice about spouting off about something they don't know (like this thread). Because they have no consequences for being wrong and calling someone/something out indiscriminately.
