What’s the most shocking thing in the article is that someone actually “paid” $2.3 million for the 2015-16 flawless Kobe logoman auto.

Nothing really special about that specific card.

It was his final season, though that alone probably isn't enough to explain the sky-high price.

Is the Logoman also from that season?

They should really game-date the jerseys. That would make the chase that much cooler.

Imagine getting a piece of jersey or shorts from Kobe's 81 pt game.

Hmm....looks like it was released in October 2015, so the logoman had to have come from a jersey he wore during the previous season, not the '15-16 season. So that's not it then.

It wasn’t a deranged pandemic sale.

Unless the card was a Black Label, unsure how you get to a $2M+ valuation other than the buyer is an idiot with way too much money on hand.

It’s scary to think that half of the people working for Nvidia (18,000 of the 36,000 employees) can afford to purchase this card, as their net worth is over $25 million apiece.

I guess we all work for the wrong company, lol!

I’d rather get a beach front retirement home with that kind of money - forget a piece of cardboard with a Walmart jersey in it.

Another private deal with Shyne. I think he also did a private sale of $4M for the Luka NT Logoman and then bought it back a few years later for less.

According to cardladder, IG user shyne150 bought the card.

IG post said there was more to the deal which we all know means other cards were included

Shyne must be going after this one too!

Will he be a man or a mouse in this auction?

It feels like the high end card market literally trades amongst the same people within the collecting community that are very tight with one another. By pawning them between one another they set these record prices thus setting a floor pricing that creeps up setting a market value.

Then they resell it back to another person within the community relative to the new market price and make headlines. All while telling the community in their IG posts about how thee cards are "Grail" or "Coffin" cards and never to be seen again. Then BAM up for sale a season later to set another record price.

Literally waiting for a fish to come along with bags of cash to get FOMO and hook them in to reel in profits. Rinse repeat and move on to the next card and whale to hook

These “grail” type cards are by no means an accurate reflection of the general hobby heat.

A fool and his money are soon parted will hold true through eternity.

I 100% encourage it. I rather be profiting than collecting. They can collect cards, ill collect cash. Im in for the ride. Every time they hype something, I just sell it. They're riding MJs, so Im selling. We all should be pillaging the collector community with them and ripping profit in all corners with shady marketing.

Don't worry, the earth can support 18,000 people each spending x100 the resources needed for living and hoarding an average of 10 unused investment apartments per person.

I mean until you realize there are another 5,000 Nvideas already ensconced in the Fortune list. And everyone else playing batsh-t catchup. We're doomed.

Silver lining, there is room for another 100 or so of these dualmen in the $2 million range. Lottery office (ahem break) open.

definition of fam.

But that's why events such as National are so important. Just got to get more grind it out old school basketball dealers on the floor. Im still hearing those resounding crickets chirp.
