Default PSA Perk

I know grading can take a (deservedly) bad rap. PSA arguably receives the most flak. This makes sense as they are the biggest; if all grading companies messed up x% of the time there would logically be many more issues from PSA in the wild as x% of 1.5 million is a lot more than x% of 100k.

I'm not a fan boy of any company. Far from it. Regarding PSA specifically (the same could be said across the board, I'm sure), I'd like to see more consistency, less damaged cards, better customer service, etc.

While I'm super late to the party, I finally got around to trying a service that PSA provides today: PSA Collection on the PSA App. I haven't tried vaulting or selling on eBay from the app yet, however the collection aspect solidifies my desire to base my collection around PSA slabs. It's really nice to be able to browse your collection and show it to others. I know there are 3rd party apps that do this, but the PSA app just hits different.

Just my 8 cents (2 cents plus inflation).

I'll actively avoid using it thanks to your emasculated numale marketing terminology "just hits different".

Thanks for the heads up. No cap.

It's interesting to see how a couple of words can affect how someone approaches the hobby. It is also interesting how you seemingly are able to summarize the inferred character of an OP based on slang.

I do appreciate the valuable contribution to this thread.

I use the vault. I think it's another awesome perk.

You get offers from PSA, without having to list, that are fully guaranteed with no fees. It provides quick and easy liquidity.

The offers I have received have been very fair.

I haven't tried that yet. Do you juat send a bunch of your cards to PSA and their storage is called a "vault"? And from there you can sell (through PSA auctions?) And sometimes PSA offers to buy outright?

Yeah, you can send cards directly to the vault or you can send to grading and have them delivered to the vault after grading is complete.

They are not PSA auctions. You can list your cards on eBay from the vault, and PSA will handle that whole process.

The PSA offers that are received aren't necessarily from PSA, instead PSA more or less brokers the sale.

PSA's website explains better: https://www.psacard.com/info/psa-off...737e6317f61ba3

Oh, ok. Some someone just throws out an offer like: "I'll pay x for card y in condition z" and PSA notifies those with that card?

If that's the case, I could see it potentially make PSA look bad. For example, i have a card that PSA values at $664 (high, IMO, but it's still their assessment based on their internal criteria) and there's a new windows with "$101.26" offer.

The offer is closer to the value (IMO) than the PSA value, but it does look awkward that PSA offers less than 1/6 of what they actually value the card as.

The offers through PSA are pretty close to Card Ladder or PSA estimated value. It appears mostly automated based on that data from what I've experienced. Regardless of where they say they may end up, I suspect most end up in PSA owns repack.

^^^ I don't quite get why someone would accept those "offers" from PSA actually, unless they are wildly off on value which seems unlikely. Don't they offer 80% of average auction price for your cards? I don't understand the benefit of that vs. just running a 7 day auction through PSA and you'd get a little bit higher %.

Only benefit I see is if you expect your card to go down in value within 7 days, or you can't wait 7 days to get money

There are no fees with PSA Offers. The offer received is the cash you get.
I'm not saying your thought process is wrong, but that's a benefit.

I will say this, I have a 1996 Upper Deck Rookie Exclusives Kobe Bryant PSA 10. I purchased the card raw for $3 on eBay back in 2019. Sent it to PSA last December and it came back a 10.
Currently, PSA Estimate is $615 and Card Ladder is $720. I received a PSA Offer of $900+ a few weeks back. I was very tempted to accept the offer.
The current PSA Offer is $607, and other offers have ranged from $600 to $900+.

I'm a collector, so I'm in no rush to sell. Most would say I should have taken the $900+ offer. But I am in no need of money and I love that I purchased the card raw for only $3 and it turned into a PSA 10. I am very much a collector at heart

I'm in the military, so PSA Vault and Fanatics Vault (I have very high end cards in both vaults) are extremely helpful due to how much moving and traveling I do.

Most people think these vaults are for resellers, replacers, and all that BS, but they have been huge for my peace of mind. The liquidity and ease of use is just an additional benefit for when I'm ready to sell in the future.

I rambled a little, but yeah, the PSA Vault and Fanatics Vault are a good deal for me. I do prefer PSA Vault.

I'm in the military as well. Not as must travel/moving as in the past, but personally I always want my cards with me. Half the enjoyment is holding them in hand and browsing my collection.

For sure, to each their own.

I prefer not to have multiple $10K+ cards and a couple of $20K+ cards, amongst other cards $5K+, with me while I'm overseas or PCSing.
I'd never have that much cash on me, so it's the same thought process with high-end cards.

To be fair, my most expensive cards are under $2K.

I've received/accepted offers that were as high as 90% of recent comps, and PSA is no fees. They were Ohtani and Caitlin Clark, so pretty liquid players.

If I can receive around what I'd net from an ebay sale +/- I would happily take it if for nothing else I don't have to deal with shipping the card.

I currently have PSA Offers on 17 of the 28 cards in my PSA Vault. This usually fluctuates between 16 - 21 offers. The Card Ladder estimates, at least for my cards, are more than the PSA Estimates.

Of the 17 offers:
- 13 are above the PSA Estimate and below the Card Ladder Estimate
- 2 are below the PSA Estimate
- 2 are above the Card Ladder estimate

The PSA Offers are usually pretty fair for mid to high end cards.
And, as previously mentioned, there are no fees associated with the PSA Offers.
