So after the Browns dumped all that guaranteed money on Watson, the NFL owners colluded and in turn helped the Ravens, Broncos, and Cardinals to a competitive advantage.
I hope everybody is as outraged with this as they are each week of the NFL season when some bogus X account picks up a bad angle of a controversial call that went the way of certain winning teams. (I know I'm outraged to the same degree... which is not at all)

I wonder if the league will have to pay settlements to players similar to what baseball did?
It won't be much money relatively to what the baseball players received compared to their base salaries. |

This is going to be Stifle's favorite thread ever in the football section.

This is stupid. These are contracts that both sides have to agree upon. Don’t offer 80% or more in guaranteed money, and the problem is solved.
So let’s say this for what it is: The league colluded to get contracts with less guaranteed $ and failed….. They are idiots, no wonder they tried to hide it

Teams have become too afraid to not have a QB. All this guaranteed money to average to slightly above average quarterbacks this was bound to happen eventually. These other teams don't want the same thing unfolding their watch.

Look at what is going on with the NFL draftees right now. The CBA had it set up, where rookies couldnt hold out for more money. And now every draft slot gets paid what they get paid. No reason to hold out, right? The Houston Texans gave WR Jayden Higgins a fully guaranteed $11.7 million contract. Which was the first fully guaranteed contract for a second-round pick in the history of the NFL. Now nearly every 2nd rounders wants 100% guaranteed money. Or they wont sign. Below is the breakdown of players who are unsigned by round: 1st round: 2 (Shemar Stewart and Denver’s Jahdae Barron) 2nd round: 30 3rd round: 3 4th round: 5 5th round: 0 6th round: 0 7th round: 0 Anything stand out? Shemar didnt like the langue the Bengals snuck in his deal. He hasn't even gone to mini camp due to that. And only two 2nd rounders have signed, thanks to the Texans. |

The browns owner did the D Watson thing to screw over the NFL and NFL owners right? It’s the only thing that makes sense.

Yes, this is entitlement. If every other team stands strong and doesn’t give in to the demands, then it stops right here. A team can survive the loss of a second round pick, but a second round pick can’t survive the loss of a team. It’s an insane world where the people that hold the money are at the mercy of a second round pick. That’s a backwards notion of control. Let them hold out; no team is going to crumble without their 2nd rounder that hasn’t contributed anything to the team. Let the Texans be the dumb team to tie up their money. I’m saying that as a huge Texans fan. This is a stupid move for the Texans, but does not control what the league does.

The original link didn't really name names. Should have known it was a Packer pulling the strings
Former Packer JC Tretter who is the NFLPA president withheld documentation of NFL owners colluding https://www.acmepackingcompany.com/2...sion-documents |

![]() Still made tons of money and had a great run. Got that Nike money ![]() Wonder what he’s up to now. Hopefully he’s still not trying to give vegan food to poor people.

^------- I can see the headline now in 2028
"Olympic Flag Football Selection Committee Racist" Colin Kaepernick can't get a tryout! Its racism!

How many times has Kaepernick done it without making sure cameras were around? Guy does charity work, then tears his rotator cuff from patting himself on the back so hard.

If cameras aren't around, none of us, you included, have any idea what good he has done in the world.

Right. Someone who makes sure the cameras are around aren’t doing it for the people. They’re doing it for their own attention. Doing the right thing when no one is looking is the definition of integrity.

My point is, who is to say what he does when cameras aren't looking? You don't know what he might do for people when the cameras aren't on.

And my point is, he’s done entirely too much attention wh0ring for most people to believe he’d do anything behind closed doors. He's provided evidence to support what I’m saying.

I will say, it's awesome some good has come from the situation, but it all started with him being pouty and mad that he lost the starting job, and had absolutely nothing to do with "protests". The whole protest angle was thought up so that the 9ers couldn't cut him because it would be bad optics (which was coming), and that worked for that season. The other players that took on the protest and did so at the expense of starting jobs impressed me far more than Kaep, as they had something skin in the game and lost money because of it. If Kaep is doing good outside for football, good for him. If he's truly in it for the right reasons, then media coverage, or people standing up for him or giving him props all the time, is unneeded, as the good works are all their own reward.
