Default **2025-26 Official Boston Celtics No Tatum No Problem Thread**

As I create this thread, the OKC Thunder are the defending champions and Tatum will likely miss the entire regular season next year.

I feel for you. Silver lining, you invested in Pritchard/Nesmith and are sitting on some nice cards for one of the team's leaders in the upcoming season. And have a whole playoffs to prove you solid. Personally as a fan, I look forward to that potential Pacers/Celts ECF matchup.

Might just keep me watching basketball.

Best case scenario for the Celtics this year is they ride it out with the skeleton crew, tank for a year, get a top four pick in the lotto, run it back with healthy Tatum + their shiny new star rookie

Isn't there a thought that Tatum may be ready for the playoffs next year?

Worst case, they coast to a mid-seed and obliterate the East in the playoffs.

They don't do that because you can't just magically start gearing up to Finals shape in mid-April.

They're in the East.

With this squad they're surely still a top 4 team.

Am curious to see if JB leads this team or coasts to mid-table. Felt like he was just floating this past season.

Love Jrue, We would never have gotten over the hump without him. Celtics legend for being a massive part of the 2024 title. Gonna miss him for sure.

That being said, Anfernee Simons is a great return along with 2 2nd rd picks and he's perfect for Mazulla ball. He just needs to learn to play some D. Plus he just turned 26 years old!

Still more work/trades to come for sure as the C's continure to try to get below the 2nd apron.

Brad Steven doesn't rebuild, he reloads!

What a nice deal for the Celts.
They get the younger player,
they have a get out of jail free with his expiring contract,
AND they get 2 2nd round picks??

Love Jrue, but that deal had to go to keep things smooth long term.

Very good deal for Jrue. Not sure I understand why the Blazers would want him, though.

great deal even if simmons isn't kept past this year. are people really worried about defense in the NBA? you know what defense is, up by 20 in game 7 of the finals and all you need to do is run the clock, but nope, shoot quick 3s, and then foul the team who is behind. oh, the C's love doing that too! KP has to be next to go, same with Al and Houser

KP to the Hawks, with the Nets helping out too.

Per Shams:Boston, Atlanta and Brooklyn are finalizing a three-team trade that sends Kristaps Porzingis and a second-round pick to the Hawks, Terance Mann and Atlanta's No. 22 pick to the Nets, and Georges Niang and a second-rounder to the Celtics.

It was inevitable that KP was gone. Now the Celtics are out of the apron.

More of a re-tool than rebuild, imo. I don’t think they’re breaking up the core of Tatum, Brown, White, Pritchard.

Yep. Man, Nesmith is a rock. When an international reporter asked him to comment on how the Celtics were formative in his success he said "I've got nothing for them. Sorry. I'm a Pacer now."

You are the guy who kept saying Tatum is like 3rd or 4th best Celtics. Just couple months later you are saying no Tatum = no playoff, what changed lol

Porz just doesn't have the track record of playing more than a half dozen games or so. Atlanta takes too big a risk for my tastes.

The C's are in a much better spot financially with Porz and Jrue off the books. I personally believe that if Brown steps up and plays well the Celtics can still be a top 4-5 seed in the east next season.

The Nets have five first round picks now
