I trusted and knew that Jerry West could build a championship team. We'll see if Pelinka knows what he's doing. If he doesn't it's going to be really difficult for Luka.

I don't know how you can vote yes on this about any eighth year player without rings. Too many variables, too small a chance each year. It's not like Luka is that great or that in shape.

I didn't realize a guy with 5 All NBA 1st Team Selections to start his career who led a 5th seeded Mavs team to the Finals just last year and is only 26 isn't that great. Interesting

No that's a perspective. I think he needs to take over Lakers and its infinite resources then, and coordinate a better strategy with JJ. You can't just purchase the best defensive guys a-la-carte, because you need total commitment A-Z.

You need someone who can build a program, starting with training the summer league and draft guys, outperforming on the court. I don't see that.

I shouldn't be surprised at all. Suddenly All NBA accolades and a final appearance with a 5th seeded squad mean nothing. He's a loser and he's done bc BO says so lol

It's so hard to say, playing in LA isn't a guarantee of anything but it does help for attracting free agents.

The Lakers, assuming they don't extend/resign Bron after next year, should have a ton of cap room during the summer of 2026 which Pelinka if he uses well could build a team that is design around Luka. The west looks menacing for the next few years though so its going to take a lot to make it back to the Finals, let alone win.

I kind of agree with the take that its more likely he wins a ring late in his career as a 2nd or 3rd option.

Name a Superstar in their prime that failed to bring a title to the Lakers. Unlike Dallas who can’t attract big time free agents, players or agents will find a way to bring another marquee player to pair with Luka once 23 is gone.

It’s a pretty safe bet he’ll win a title in LA.

You could of asked this question years ago about James Harden and NBA Super Star offensive player with NCAA D3 defense..... Harden has tried playing with many star combinations and no ring.....

I predict Luka out warm his welcome in LA within a 2-3 years...

Harden wasn't on the Lakers. That is the key thing I keep coming back to. I am with the others, Lakers will spend the resources to bring in superstars. Whether that make Luka a number two or still the number one, I don't think that matters. I do think his window is smaller than some people think though. He has the next 3-4 years as being the high usage ball dominant guy. I can see him being too slow to get by people and even worse on defense. It will be a barrage of step back 3's. Lakers bring in a younger superstar player, and it will cover up a lot of Luka's ills.

I think the Laker's have a massive problem with Lebron's contract. No way they can pay him 52 million next season and bring in a real difference maker at Center. He needs to use this offseason to drastically reduce his contract. If they are able to do that and they can trade Reaves for a good center like Walker Kessler they will have a much better shot next year.

Kessler would be a great addition. It gets him out of Utah as well. I'm not sure they trade Reaves though.
