Steelers fans what the hell is going on?

Seriously are you guys going to just let Russ walk? They just traded for his best buddy DK. This has to be part of the NFL soap opera right? I can’t imagine Russ signing with Cleveland or the Giants. And picking Rodger’s over Russ at 41 seems silly. Russ is only 36. The media talks like the dude is dead. Anyway just thought id get your guys input. I thought Russ balled out last year until the defense sh!t the bed the last 5 games. Russ looked great in the playoffs too throwing for 270 and 2tds. I get it, he’s not the old Russ. But damn he’s still one of the best qb’s available. Probably not top 10 anymore but definitely serviceable at 12th best or so. Plus he’s only 4 wins away from cracking the top 10. He’s seemed to get along great with everyone and Coach Tomlinson. So what’s the issue?

Russ hasn't looked good since 2020. He's 23-32 as a starter since then. He can't move anymore. The only thing he's done in the past four years is rack up passing yards in garbage time.

Russ on a 1 year deal for a Million Bucks, while the Broncos eat the rest, is a good deal for Pittsburgh.

Giving Russ upwards of $50MIL in guarantees on a new 2 year deal? Nope.

He is now a 150-200 yard per game guy. With maybe a TD and pick per. Not 100% washed. But not worth what him and his agent think hes worth either.

I'm not sure what the Steelers are doing. Russ sucks and his personality seems to wear out it's welcome pretty quickly when he's not playing at an elite level. My prediction is they bring back Mason Rudolph and he's ultimately the starter this year even if they sign Rodgers.

As stated, Russ at vet minimum while another team is paying the bulk of his salary is fine. Paying full freight, not so much. Fields wasn't really showing enough to solidify a starting spot. It sure feels like they are expecting Rodgers to come in and be the guy this year. I don't think he has much left either, we shall see.

Have you actually watched him play? The last year in Denver he was just stat padding chucking the ball up when they were down 20 points against prevent defense. Last year he put up good numbers against the Giants, Commanders and Bengals defense like every other QB. Beyond that he was like 150 yards and 1 TD in the rest of games and he can't move anymore. He is on par with Rodgers right now. Two old, physically diminished QB that used to rely on their mobility and can't move anymore. I'm confident the Steelers would be better off with Rudolph who knows Tomlin and and the system. They would probably be better with Winston or Wentz as well.
