Default Beckett Article: 1991 Pro Line Portraits - NFL Autographs

Hello everyone,

Hope you are well.

It's Kevin Glew, a longtime hobby writer here.

I'm working on an article about the 1991 Pro Line Portraits NFL series, with a focus on the autograph cards.

I wondered if anyone out there has collected these cards?

If yes, I would love to interview you for my article.

You can respond here or email me directly at kevin.glew@sympatico.ca

Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

Kevin

Kevin:
Not sure if I’m what you’re looking for but I’ve got the full Cowboys team set of these from 1991 as well as subsequent years. Also I can dig it out but I have a Beckett from the mid 90s where they interview the people that worked on this set and how it came about. Pretty good article. Feel free to hit me up.

Kevin
I have a few, the most interesting being the Lynn Swann. Swann famously does not sign cards but was in this set.
I hope you talk on the amount of fakes that exist in the set. From my research, a couple guys bought base cards then used kodak eraser fluid to erase the number on the corner of the card then forge the autograph and also had there own embosser, to replicate the one used in factory. The muhammad ali card is famous for being faked, especially the Cassius Clay autograph version

I have about 150 or so of these, mostly 91 and 92 with a few later. Pulled about half from packs over time way back then. Hope to read your article when it comes out.

At one point I had the entire set, but traded it to my brother in law over a decade ago. Great and historic set.

What’d you get for it?
