Got to use the leg press machine next to a Draco Malfoy lookalike today.

He was wearing Cincinnati Bengals gear. A little salt in the wound.

Probably January 4 before I start to hit it hard. But I'll be here consistently.

I’m pretty close to my goal weight so I would like to maintain.Keep on going to the gym. Build more strength. Sign up for more races. I was planning on doing a 5K on Saturday but then I ended up in the ER 2 weeks ago and I had to get a blood transfusion and there is not enough time to build up stamina. Maybe build up my way to a 10K by the end of the year

What does your routine look like these days given all the upgrades you’ve had?

Edit: Was on mobile. Hadn’t even realized that I had accidentally added a facepalm emoji. That was not intended.

Just get back to the consistency I used to have

I was a solid 5-6 days a week guy for a lot of years when the kids were little but 2024 was tough simply with work, and work related commitments, and my kids travel sports schedule which is basically 7 days a week for practice and/or games. I can't workout in the evening anymore. It's at lunch or nothing

I want to make sure I get back to the gym 4 days a week simply to feel better, sleep better, etc...

Doesn't have to be anything crazy

I don't think 300 decline bench is ever gonna happen. 295 is where it stopped, would struggle to do 285 today.

I guess a goal would be to be injured less and try to lengthen my telomeres

If you don't mind me asking, why decline?

I dislocated my shoulder in HS football and about 5 years ago I tweaked it again (3rd dislocation). Instead of waiting 3-4 months to feel comfortable with horizontal bench angle I found decline put less stress doing the motion and I could get back to working chest again so I just got use to that over time

I've always also done some sort of upper, but I've put more emphasis on it lately. First barbell but now more smith machine incline.

Since my boys moved out and COVID I haven't really had a gym membership. Doing about 90 minutes per day, usually 5-6 days/week - largely a continuation/extension of the PT exercises, free weights, and killing myself on the AirDyne bike at home. I've been able to maintain the 30# I lost for the surgery a year ago. Just had my one year check-in and x-rays and my surgeon (who happens to be a smokeshow) said the replacements looked fantastic and she's hoping that I'll get 25-30 years out of them. I hope so, too, because I can't imagine a bilateral replacement in my late 70s. They're a new generation of implant so there are no longevity estimates yet.

I f’d my shoulder in my teens doing military press. I can do flat bench now but even with moderate weight and my elbows closer to my body, there’s discomfort.

Did some squat thrusts again this morning. Should I put this here or in 2024 thread?

It’s nice when work travel lines up your workout schedule so the only full day you’re gone is your rest day.

Probably older than you. But in better shape than I've been for 20 years.

So there's hope for you.

Just have to lay off the IPAs.

Not probably… you are definitely older than me

Why in the world would I lay off the IPA’s? That sounds absolutely horrible
